Water & Amusem*nt Parks

Safari-themed indoor water park at the Fairfield Inn & Suites features 2 large water slides.

We had a great time! Perfect for our 4 and 5 year olds and convenient for us. The pool area and hotel were very clean. The room was very nice and comfortable. Staff in both areas were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was delicious and the food was kept hot. Price was fair and you can get a discount signing up with rewards through Marriott. We will definitely be returning for frequent overnight mini-vacations as we live only 2 hours away.

I've been calling there for several months and the water park is still closed. I doubt the arcade is up and running yet either. I've been really wanting to take my Kids there but unfortunately after this long and always getting excuses about the water park needing parts and they still haven't came in yet tells me that it's more than likely never going to reopen. Everything I call whichever month it is they always say they expect it to be ready at the end of the month. Yeah okay! Also management doesn't answer emails

I was super hesitant after reading a lot of pretty bad reviews but here's the facts, based on our experience in August 2018 on a Saturday:1. Plenty of towels UNTIL approx 3pm. See photo of empty towel rack at 3302. Water was indeed cool in the slide half. Too cold for me but we were there so our 11 and 13 year old could have fun and they didnt complain.3. Water on the baby half was really nice and warm. We all played in it for a while. My sons really had a blast.4. I agree that the hot tub wasn't super hot.5. I am HAPPY kids aren't allowed in hot tub. Kids get to play in the entire place, let the adults have 8 feet of peace.6. Kids loved the slides. Even hubby went down a bunch of times.7. There is NOT food. they told us we are welcome to bring our own and eat upstairs. Theres a subway and taco bell right across the street! What could be better than taco bell IN a water park?!8. All of the games worked. They did run out of tickets while we were playing9. Staff was super nice.10. There were several lifeguards plus front desk staff. They were all attentive. We did see a guard jump in the water to help a child and the female guard even gave my son a push to get him going fast down the lazy river. I thought this was super cool.11. Bathrooms were fine.12. No problem getting a locker.13. I would absolutely go back.

The place is completely shutdown. They told us for renovations but there was not a single renovation going on. Still charged three hundred a night. No cleaning service as well. The staff was the only good thing there. They are all completely wonderful but whoever owns this thing is using covid to the extreme to make money and provide no services. Other hotels in the area at least have a pool open and are serving hot breakfasts. Look around, better hotels in the area offering more.

Dan Buehrer — Google review

I enjoyed the waterpark opening back up. It was a total blast. My only complaint is the fact that the kids water and lazy river water was colder than my liking honestly. Definitely want to come back just want the water to be warmer. I strongly urge that be handled and adjusted accordingly.

Coffee is horrible with grounds in it.Update 2-23-24The hotels management spoke with me about the issues I seen. They are taking the issues seriously. The coffee is 100% betterAlso the other issues are being dealt with.I was actually pretty pleased that Sam took me aside to let me know that he takes the issues personally and is working to fix them. The coffee was a great start Sam thank you.

The website has almost no information, and calling sends you to a call center most of the time. The water park itself was lots of fun with plenty to do. My kids, ages 7 to 12, had a great time. The staff was attentive, the water temperature was good, and there were not too many people there. I thought the lighting was a little dim, the bathrooms needed attention, and the parking lot was pretty run down. Overall, I think it was a good trip and worth it, but the place could use a little more attention to really be spectacular.

Elijah Ricks — Google review

Pretty cool for what it is, it's mainly for children. They do have a Jacuzzi for adults , little arcade. Pretty small, they have two slides that are pretty nice. They do run out of towels rather quickly, and they only have so many inner tubes, beyond that it was pretty fun. when coming to a place like this you can't be over critical , you're not paying $200 a night

Sebastian Murphy — Google review

My wife and I booked a king suite for us and our 1 year old daughter for Saturday to Sunday night. It was almost perfect for a quick trip. We got to check in early at 2:00 o clock, and had all day passes to the water park. The water park was great for my 1 year old. We went down the slides together, and I went down the big ones a couple times. Definitely for kids, so expect them to be there and it be loud. I thought it was a perfect little spot. Hotel room was nothing spectacular, but the hotel staff is very helpful and very kind. Breakfast was very good for being free. Couldn’t of really asked for a better trip. My only flaw is the location doesn’t have much around it. Basically Taco Bell, and Casey’s Gas Station. Also the room didn’t have a microwave, so had to go to the lobby for babies bottle. I would HIGHLY recommend this is if you kids, they will absolutely love the water park. Get the room and park package, it’s a fantastic deal for what you get.By the way the water park was very clean from what I could tell, which was a biggie for us.

Chad Weddle — Google review

The price is good for the experience. But the lifeguards are on their phones the whole time. No one is enforcing any rules. My kid is pretty responsible at 9 she mentioned that they let kids go down head first and under the height requirements (which she thought was great haha) If you are an attentive parent this is great. But if you want a place where you can read while the kids have fun this is not the place. No one is paying any attention.

Amanda Schuitema — Google review

This is a hidden gem! It was wonderful and there’s so much for the kids to do. We enjoyed the water slides & especially the lazy river. The Cafe wasn’t open despite it being a busy weekend (went in January, 2020). Nicely located and adjoins to the hotel. The hotel had a really nice breakfast that was included and had a full array of breakfast food & beverages. I didn’t care for the pool life jackets and would probably see if you can bring your own for smaller kids.

The staff is absolutely friendly. The water park is amazing and well-kept. Everything is the best I could have ever hoped for and I've got a lot of experiences with indoor water parks

deathgirl 767 — Google review

This place is very cozy, clean and safe. The facility is small and perfect for our family. The manager greeted us with a smiling face and respectfully and kindly reminded each family of the rules before entering, which I REALLY appreciated. He walked through the facility speaking to families, employees and did safety checks. The water temperature was great, warm for the kids and the big pool is not even 4ft so my kids could swim without floaties. The only thing I was disappointed with was the jacuzzi and that was because max temperature was 100 degrees. I am sure there is some stipulation, not a huge deal. We'll be back for sure.

Unicorn Sparkledust — Google review

Great fun , food and drinks for the kids and myself. Will definitely visit again.

So glad the Waterpark is opened back up! The entire place is clean well lit with friendly staff! Everything looked amazing! The new people running it have done an amazing job! 10/10 will be back

Came in with my daughter and her friend on Friday evening, got a night pass just to swim and these new owner are simply amazing! So kind and attentive. Everything is super clean! Happy to have a little getaway close to home again! Thanks again for the kindness! We will be back soon!

Our family weekend at Surfari Joes Waterpark was an absolute blast! The park offered a perfect mix of excitement for all ages. From the kiddie pools for the little ones to the thrilling slides that kept the older kids and adults entertained, there was never a dull moment. The family-friendly environment, clean facilities, and attentive staff made the experience even more enjoyable. Surfari Joes proved to be a fantastic destination for creating lasting memories with loved ones.

Mike Sullivan — Google review

We gave it 1 more shot. The restrooms were VERY unsanitary, the water was cold and the hot tub was gross. I purchased a "session" that indicated 5-8:30 in my email confirmation and after an hour drive was told 5:30 was the session start time so employees could have a break. We left an hour after arrival. 30 minutes in the lazy river was a 75 dollar lesson learned. I hope they work out the kinks but we'll not return. Best of luck to them.

scarlettawnya — Google review

So disappointed that no one bothered to mention that the park that lists only being open until 6 online but we were told that it was open til 8 at the entrance failed to mention it would be shutting down for an hour 5 minutes after we entered the water. With a 6 year old granddaughter with behavioral problems this was a way bigger deal than it was for my teens. When I pointed out to the girls collecting tubes the blonde girl was tremendously condescending rather than acknowledging that yes, we should have been told that. And the family room package is supposed to include a fold out couch in the room which was mysteriously missing.

Heather McIntosh — Google review

We went for their "spring break special". We made reservations and requested joining rooms. Then called to make sure it was possible. Also called the day of our reservation, still good to go at that point. We had 2 adults and 7 kids. When we arrive they had totally messed up our reservations and there were no joining rooms available/ clean because house keeping left for the day. So they shuffled some things around and gave us rooms across the hall from each other. No biggie. That evening we went to dinner and notice that they charged us for a 3rd room. And when we spoke to the guy at the desk, he just wanted to gaslight us and tell us we messed up our reservations. I offered to show him the confirmation emails for the rooms to prove it wasn't our fault but he didn't wanna see them. To compensate they offered the kids a few free snacks. Also, when we called the said we get all day passes to the Waterpark on date of check out. Welp we got kicked out at 1pm. Place is marginal at best. We won't go back. You can't check in til 4pm Waterpark closes at 8pm. Waste of time and money.

David Johnson — Google review

Cannot check in until exactly 3 p.m. rooms are clean. Not enough food for the free breakfast, they brought out limited supplies. They kept running out 1 hour into it. Didn't have enough pool towels. Management rude. Bathrooms were not cleaned the whole time we were there. Our bathroom, in room, smelled like a gas leak happened, in the middle of the night. Seems like they just didn't care

David Foster — Google review

The new management is pretty awesome. Our stay initially started with some rocky areas. We had some complications with our room, and we had to notify management. They took our concerns very seriously. They seemed like they cared and did what they could to make our stay feel comfortable. At first, I was a little hesitant about coming back, but now, knowing the kindness that the staff exemplifies, my family and I will be making a return visit soon. Kids loved to water park. Thanks, Peachtree staff! And thank you, Sam! You are an awesome guy, and I'm glad the hotel is in your care.

Craig Cubbage — Google review

This place is horrible! Absolutely terrible not worth the money and here is whySlide are rarely open, the water is nasty. Unsupervised kiddos doing cannon balls in the hot tub, never any towels so dont forget to bring your own, the pre-teens they have hired to run the desk are all rude, definitely wont be coming back !

Stephanie rankin — Google review

The indoor waterpark would have been fun if it wasn't soooooo cold!!! The air was chilly and the water was cold! We quickly figured out the reason for it. Under what looked like a painted garage door was a pretty big crack where the cold outdoor air came in freely. I took pictures. Hopefully they will fix it, otherwise it's not worth going there.

Mia Berg — Google review

Staff seems confused about what 8s t9 be done. The front desk says one thing, and the staff for Waterpark says another. The water park was clean, but the bathrooms frequently had no tolite paper. They did stop all.play for an hr every 3 hours to clean. Rooms were good-sized and well put together. Bathroom needs work. The floor and shower wall were cracked and rust from what must have been a leak on the frame of the door. Staff was super courteous.

Water & Amusem*nt Parks

Classic restored merry-go-round with painted animals & music from a vintage band organ.

Great family friendly place. The carousel was wonderful, and the train setups, child scale cars, and Lego tables made it very fun for us.

Debbie Dennis — Google review

Always a wonderful experience at Silver Beach Carousel! Today we thoroughly enjoyed the time taken to beautifully decorate for Mardi Gras. It was impressive! And we enjoyed the Lego displays by local SW Michigan children and the WMLUG! Amazing!

Nikki Papalambros — Google review

Most beautiful carousel EVER! We were there in October and got to see bonus Halloween decorations as well. Outstanding!!! 🙌🏼

Jessica Davies — Google review

A must visit!!! One of the absolute coolest carousels in the country, maybe the world! A ride is affordable and a lot of fun. The carousel is very well maintained, structurally sound, authentic and quite festive. The line is never too long and there are plenty of fun things to look at and interact with while waiting. Often times, they will also have bean bag toss (cornhole) and side walk chalk right outside the surrounding glass doors. The carousel is also attached to the Curious Kid's Museum Discovery Zone, which is great for kids ~age 2-6. Bathrooms are VERY nice and clean.

James R. Winfree, Jr. — Google review

The carousel is a bit pricey, but it's a lovely ride. We enjoyed seeing all the unique animals on it and there were lots of good places for adults who aren't riding to sit. They sell some concessions, but it's all circus food - popcorn, cotton candy, etc. There's a Zoltar machine and a terrifying box containing "laughing sal" (pictured)

Melody DuVal — Google review

Very rude elderly volunteers. We have been here many times before and have never had an issue until today. We had an enjoyable experience next door at Discovery Zone and the staff there were fantastic! But the way we were treated by the staff at the carousel was enough not to come back. They are working with mostly children and their parents and should have a better attitude towards the public if they are going to volunteer in that setting.

Alexa Rambo — Google review

Great place for kids, it is a beautiful carousel.

Charles Sweeney — Google review

Beautiful carousel at the heart of a renewed recreational area. The carousel is inside. There are lots of kid friendly things to do, and lots of rockets to sit and watch from. Not sure how much it is to ride, but watching is free.

MF Vinson — Google review

What a magical day we had! My son's first carousel ride. We reserved a ticket in advance for the one hour slot. We rode every ride for the entire hour and my son was so excited and overjoyed. The staff is amazing, kind, knowledgeable, friendly, caring, and fun! The carousel is in such impeccable shape. Do this, and then head to the beach for a dip - you won't regret it!

Amanda Wilson-Langel — Google review

Beautiful carousel. The staff is fantastic and so sweet. If you are solo as a parent an attendant will ride with you to help out for smaller children. They even hand out coloring pages. Lovely experience.

Lauren Martin — Google review

Attended a reading event through the Berrien County Parent Coalition and my children got a free carousel ride for wearing costumes! I was visibly nervous (not a fan of carousels) so a worker generously offered to stand by my youngest child to ensure her safety while I took photos. They had a great time and loved the experience!

Gwenevere Mueller — Google review

We had our wedding reception at the Shadowland Ballroom and rented the carousel for one hour during the event. It was FANTASTIC!The staff is great to work with and were excellent communicators leading up to the event. We had 150 guests (all older than 21) and the carousel was a hit. We did our rental from 8:00-9:00pm, so right after we finished dinner at 6:45, we did the first dance, mother / son, father / daughter dances, and went straight out to the carousel to do our professional photos before opening it up to guests.I liked that timeline because guests could get a drink or two in them first before enjoying the ride. Photos on the carousel did take longer than I expected, so the full hour was pretty necessary. If you’re debating whether or not to book the carousel for your event, I recommend you go ahead and do so. It’s super fun! And as a bonus they give you 60 free ride tokens at the end. We’re including them in our thank you cards!Ben Pancoast was our photographer and did an INCREDIBLE job!! Bridesmaids dresses on Rent the Runway, hair and makeup Hanna Wagner Design out of Grand Rapids.

Park

Outdoor Activities

Silver Beach County Park is a lovely area located alongside Lake Michigan, featuring a wide beach that offers various exciting activities like beach volleyball. The park also includes an event pavilion and pier access, making it an ideal location for entertainment and leisure. Children can have fun at the spray park fountains or indoor carousel while enjoying delicious pies served by Silver Beach Pizza in an old train depot.

Beautiful park that fronts Lake Michigan with stunning view of lighthouses and piers. Playground for kids. Beach volleyball courts, concession stand, bathrooms, paved trail connecting to Howard family Trail. Paid parking is limited in season. Beautiful sunsets and walking distance to many other local attractions. No dogs in beach but allowed in paved trail.

Sue Burkhard — Google review

Perfect as always. The town is great. Wonderful shops and food throughout. Pizza by the splash pad is a must and fishing the inlet never disappoints. The beach is always busy but with plenty of parking and room for others. Has good hills to ride and skate while being mindful of others. No signs posted at all and the boardwalk has plenty of room for everyone walking or riding. They have a beach house with ice cream and all the beach needs. The atmosphere is always great. Highly recommend this place.

Joe Coulter — Google review

I hung out at the beach pretty much all day on September 23rd. I took in the beautiful weather and the sound of the waves as the boats passed by out in the distance. My goal was to catch the sunset. But before settling to do this I hit up two wineries and did some wine tasting..Dawn became dusk and I was able to catch a beautiful sunset at around 7:30pm. The weather was perfect. The people were pleasant. The wine was delicious. The booths set up selling cheeses, fruits, vegetables, and arts and crafts was a nice surprise..Silver Beach Pizza was good too!

SAM OESTERREICH (Oesfreelancing) — Google review

Always relaxing when taking a stroll on the pier at Silver Beach. Any season is a stop and walk treat. Beautiful views which will include stunning sunsets most every evening year round.

James Calvert — Google review

Lovely beach for a simple hang out to chill and spend time with family and friends. Sand is clean and soft. There is a playground, and some swings. Decent eateries within walking distance of 10 minutes. Head over earlier for a warmer experience - it gets chilly as the sun goes down.

Luann See — Google review

we stopped after some time at the local winery and some Kilwin's ice cream and enjoyed the sights and sounds of October on the beach!! At least 4 surfers were out to enjoy the waves and it gives you time to stop and think about how important the little things in life truly are!! Silver Beach County Park has our hearts forever!!!

Steven McHugh — Google review

Beautiful views. Amazing splash pad. Easy parking and wonderful beach on Lake Michigan. Great little shops, cute downtown, great coffee and chocolates! We will be back to spend some time here next summer.

TheBudgetFamilySykesAgain — Google review

This was my mine and my husband's first time here and we'll definitely be going back. We ate at Silver Beach Pizza and it was some of the best pizza we've ever had. We took our chairs and sat close to the tide coming in and I walked along the beach collecting rocks, which I found some pretty cool ones.

Stephanie Buffington — Google review

Lovely beach, great spot to see the sunset. In season the parking is a little expensive, particularly if you just want to stop by for a walk or something. Not dog friendly. Silver beach pizza is good, but gets super busy in the summer months so be prepared to wait for both tables to eat in and take out.The walk down the pier is worth it, it’s a nice view out to the lake and back to wards the beach. Lots of things for the kids to do and play on, plus volleyball etc. it’s super nice to walk down the beach and pier in the winter and see all the ice and snow

Simon E — Google review

Wonderful find less than thirty miles from South Bend. We enjoyed a walk along the pier and an ice cream at cabanas which was delicious. There is a shopping street called State Street when you get done with the beach. Awesome destination for an afternoon away from Academia.

Richard Hughes — Google review

Very good beach. You will have to pay $15 to park right next to the beach, but it is free on the street. There is a very nice fountain play area, a playground, and lots of volleyball nets. The beach has very soft sand, and the lake is not too deep approximately 50 feet from the shore.

Vince & Mina — Google review

Great beach. It's clean. Not enough parking, so parents with young children beware. There might be some walking. There is a restaurant near the beach, bonus so you don't travel far for food. The beach can get crowded towards the afternoon. Parents with younger kids best to be there before 2 pm. Easier to track your children with less people around. No dogs are allowed on the beach.

Y O-Mor — Google review

Good beach. No sharks, no jellyfish, freshwater and nice sand.Right on the beach (in the sand close): Restrooms, Swings, 9 sand volleyball courts, snack shack, playground, water rentals and life guards.Real close to the beach: Parking, Spray water park, restaurant, lighthouse, pier, carousel (open Fri-Sun).Tourist friendly little town a little further walk with plenty of shops and restaurants.Parking right on beach is $15 all day. Free all day parking is a 5 minute walk.

Charles Miller — Google review

We didn't actually get into the water but we did walk along the beach. It's a nice quiet area. Plenty of seating. They have 2 parking options. 1 is about a blocks walk give or take for free & the other is right on the beach $15/day, which is a great price. The beach was well kept & the view was nice also! The beach is located right in the downtown area that has a nice strip of boutiques, restaurants, wine bars & sweet treats. We visits Buck for lunch, DK Boutique for their 50% off pandora sale & I also grabbed some cute fedoras that were on sale. We did tastings @ White Pine winery & Ballerina Winery also. Can't wait to return for another day trip.

Jahnik Dismuke — Google review

I'm a walker, 3+ miles a day. If I'm not playing golf or swimming in my swim spa, my favorite place to walk is Silver Beach. I'm a trained lifeguard when we had a cabin at Huntington Beach, California. I was a "Surfer Girl" and planned to save myself. I did save several folks along the way. When I'm walking at Silver Beach I'm always looking for someone to save. A few months ago I convinced a kid who was about to go pier diving by himself, not to go. I always sit near the lifeguard station when the lifeguards return to school at the end of the summer. I look at the ring and bouys on the station and am ready to save someone. I'm in my 70's now, but I'm always ready to save someone.

Eileen Chapman — Google review

Nice park that combines the beach with some walking paths, a pier, a splash pad, lots of cool art, and connects to the downtown with some great food choices. If you park closer to downtown and walk down the steps there are plenty of free options to park.

Lighthouses

2 iconic, historic lighthouses on a breakwater with an elevated catwalk & dramatic sunset views.

My husband and I have made it a mission to visit every lighthouse in Michigan. This one did not disappoint at all. The walk out to the lighthouse was peaceful and the waves crashing made for a even more peaceful walk. The views are breathtaking. Definitely worth the visit.

Summer Case — Google review

There is a pay parking here. No entry fee. You can walk all the way to the lighthouses for nice pictures. Part of the walk does NOT have protection rails and you enter at your own risk.

Ruth Aguilar — Google review

Awesome place for sunset. The boardwalk is nice and long. The lighthouses are pretty. Lake Michigan can get crazy and the waves were no joke when we were here lol.

Over 100 years young, this charming double lighthouse and the surrounding scenery (dunes, beach, tall grasses) is beautiful in all sorts of Michigan weather.

The St. Joseph North Pier Inner Lighthouse is a beautiful and historic landmark located in St. Joseph, Michigan. This lighthouse was built in 1907 and has been a beacon for ships and boats entering the harbor for over a century. The lighthouse is located on the north pier of the St. Joseph River and is surrounded by beautiful views of the lake and the city. It is a popular spot for tourists and locals alike, and is a great place to take a walk and enjoy the scenery. The lighthouse itself is a beautiful white structure with a red roof and a black lantern on top. It is well-maintained and in excellent condition, and is a great example of the architecture of the early 20th century. The interior of the lighthouse is not open to the public, but visitors can still get a glimpse of the inside through the windows. The lighthouse is also a great spot for photography and is a popular location for wedding and engagement photos.Overall, the St. Joseph North Pier Inner Lighthouse is a must-see for anyone visiting St. Joseph. It is a beautiful and historic landmark that offers great views and a glimpse into the past. It is a great place to take a walk and enjoy the scenery, and is a great spot for photography. We visited here in October of 2020. This lighthouse and beach area were very beautiful. You do have to pay to park unless you find street parking. When walking down to the lighthouse please be careful because the waves tend to crash over the walk way. My daughter and I enjoyed the views and sounds of the water. It was peaceful.

Universities & Schools

The University of Notre Dame, a Catholic institution founded in 1842, is home to the Fighting Irish football team and boasts a picturesque campus. Notable historic sites include the Basilica, dome, and library. The university's Gothic architecture is symbolic of Paris and France itself, with Napoleon having been crowned there. The stadium on campus is impressive and ushers provide helpful service to visitors. Hospitality at Notre Dame is excellent and tailgating events offer opportunities for socializing with fellow fans.

I love it here! I have worked here for 15 years and don't plan to leave anytime soon. Plenty to do and see, people are kind, as it's a beautiful campus. Plus, who doesn't love the best football team?

The University of Notre Dame Campus is strikingly beautiful. The architecture of its buildings is stunning. In May the tulips around campus are beautiful to see. Souvenirs can be picked up from the bookstore. You can take in a mass at the beautiful cathedral or partake in a sporting event. It is a must see when visiting South Bend.

We always enjoy our visits to the University of Notre Dame to cheer on our Fighting Irish! Excellent hospitality on this beautiful campus and the tailgating is fun and always good for making new friends! Can't wait to go back again!

I was here over the weekend on business. Decided to go for a 5k run around campus. Was absolutely beautiful. It was nice to see a campus that is kept up so nice. Great architecture as well as landscaping. If you’re in the area highly recommend take a look around!

The university of notre Dame is a very beautiful campus. They have very unique landmarks and statues. It was a very nice place to walk around and get pictures. There were some very striking views to be seen around the campus.

Gorgeous and historic campus. The grounds and buildings are beautiful. Several historic sites to visit including the Basilica, dome and library. Notre Dame stadium is also amazing! The ushers and staff were so helpful and kind. Overall great experience!

Nick Ventura — Google review

I was there today to run a Spartan Race. Three venue was awesome. I got a chance to run through the entire stadium, the football field, and some of the campus. We also got to run through the locker rooms and courtyard that had a great view of Touchdown Jesus. The Notre Dame Stadium staff was great too. Very professional. They treated the few thousands of racers, Spartan Race staff, and spectators like family. I'd definitely like to go back again soon.

In the spirit of full disclosure I am somewhat biased as I am an Alumnus. That said, this is truly one of the most unique and beautiful college campuses in the country. I love returning when in the area, and now that I am retired have more time to do so! Do yourself a favor, and put this place on your "bucket list" for places to go!

Incredible campus, I felt like I was at a national park or museum. Very peaceful, we were here for a tour, my son loves the campus and school, and hopefully, he gets accepted.

Absolutely beautiful campus. I didn't study there, so, cannot talk for the quality of education but the place is gorgeous.I love taking walks there, I love roaming around the campus. I love the lakes, swans, and ducks as well! The landscaping is amazing.I like coming here to light a candle for my grandma. 🕯I think I'd be absolutely happy to go to this school as a college student!

Anastasiia Iun — Google review

A very beautiful Campus. Well maintained as it is makes it easy to see why it's such a popular choice for a great education. I would give a full five just for the beauty but as I have never been a student I can't fairly say how I'd feel having never experienced attending. As a visitor I truly enjoyed the architectural beauty and the history of the famed campus. I recommended this as a great free must see in the area!

Mary Jane — Google review

Beautiful campus. Great place to watch a football game. Great atmosphere. Friendly fans. Food was good for stadium food and prices were reasonable. If you are passing through South Bend on a Saturday and you have a few hours available, I would highly recommend checking out a University of Notre Dame Fighting Irish football game. You won't be disappointed in the stadium or atmosphere. Go Irish!

Mike Bartsch — Google review

Great architectureI can't really say much about the university itself, I just came to visit to see the stunning basilica. There were actually less buildings with unique architectural elements than I was expecting. It appears that the bookstore and dorms and most general buildings are mostly square brick structures. Still worth visiting to see the Grotto, Basilica, and gold dome.

Arenas & Stadiums

Notre Dame Stadium is a renowned college football venue that has been home to many Heisman trophy winners since 1930. It can accommodate over 80,000 spectators and is known for its iconic status. The stadium boasts a beautiful old-fashioned design with modern amenities, making it an attractive destination for visitors. The fans are enthusiastic, particularly the student section who make their presence felt with their loud cheers.

One of my favorite places on this big giant rock. The food was great, plenty of souvenir shops to choose from. The video screens every where help you stay up with the action at all times.

Eddy Richards — Google review

One of the best venues for anything anywhere in the country. There’s no such thing as a bad seat here, even if you’re super far up. Even though it’s a sprawling stadium, every seat feels like you’re home. The food selection here isn’t too bad either. You can feel the history here just oozing out in every single corner.

Jeremiah Anthony — Google review

Amazing stadium that you have to see to understand all of the hype. Beautiful architecture ensconsed in deep rooted history. I could spend all day here just taking it all in.

Bradley Hull — Google review

Love this spot. I’ve been to Notre Dame a few times in my travels. I always find myself chanting “Rudy, Rudy, Rudy” as I walk around the football stadium. The Basilica is awesome from the outside. I arrived to late in the day to get inside. I remember the days when you could walk into a church or a house of God at any time of the day. One interesting fact that I was unaware of all these years is that the church calls Cathedrals, Basilica’s when the Pope has been there personally. I am a big fan of the school and there willingness to promote God and His ministry to their students and the world without being subject to all of the noise and pressure within our modern world. Good for you Notre Dame! I would highly recommend a walk around Campus.

The House That Rockne Built. The greatest sports venue in all of sports, the iconic Notre Dame Stadium. Great place to see the Irish play on Saturdays! Parking lots are away from the stadium so a little walk or bus ride will get you there. Plenty to do before kickoff, campus is small and easily walked around in an afternoon. Lots of staff on hand at the stadium, bathrooms are clean and concessions are well stocked!

Sean Q — Google review

Loved it! We came here for a campus tour and managed to get tickets. What a great venue. They lost the game but it was great to go and be apart of something like this. If my kid can't get in maybe I'll try. My pics aren't great because I was watching the game. 🤷🏽‍♂️

Herb Busler — Google review

Watched Billy Joel here and this venue was incredible! There isn’t a bad seat in this stadium. We were on the floor and it was a bit cramped. I wish we would’ve had seats in the stands. But it was nice to have the freedom to walk around and get closer, take pictures, and get close to the concert. We are going to look into more concerts here. Highly recommended.

Wilson Reyes — Google review

Great stadium. Had some vip seats. Loved them. It's always a fun, exciting place. Fans are so into every game pushing for the Irish. If you haven't gone and are a Notre Dame fan. You need to go.

Landscapes by Acme — Google review

This is the most beautiful stadium I’ve ever seen. I’m a fan of old traditional football stadium and the architecture that they display. This one is the cream of the crop inside and out. If you’re a Notre Dame fan of any kind this is a must see. You won’t be disappointed. Whether you go during the season or during offseason you will be amazed. This place is what college sports are all about. A definite winner.

ND 4LIFE — Google review

Awesome stadium, only two things I didn't like was the seats are to close together, all that money they used for the remodel my knees shouldn't be in people backs. Also should be a TV screen on both sides of the stadium. If you are on the TV side you will have to wear a neck brace by the end of the game because your going to be constantly turning to look at the one TV in the stadium. Other than that we had a great time.

Latoya Greer — Google review

Beautiful stadium and friendly staff. It was fun walking around the perimeter and reading all the history. My only complaint is that it was eerily quiet after the game.

Matt Roller — Google review

ICONIC. Went thinking I'd catch a half and then beat traffic or walk around campus but fuggetaboutit stayed for the entire game because it was such an amazing game and experience. What a gorgeous olde stadium with a modern touch. Fans were awesome student section was loud and the Notre Dame band was out of this freaking world. I've never seen a bigger band in my life and the music was spot on. Stayed to get some pictures as the stadium emptied and didn't regret waiting. If you visit go to a game and soak in an amazing day.

Richie Pawlowski — Google review

Such an experience! If you want the college football experience, definitely a great stadium to enjoy. Atmosphere was great and the tailgating is wonderful, not just a college campus or stadium-- its a whole experience and everyone is so nice. Food in the stadium was good! hotdogs, pretzels and lemonade were fantastic, and themed for ND!

What an amazing place to see a game. My first time there. Leaving with a great experience from excellent fans, beautiful campus, great team spirit. Very friendly to opposing teams. Just left with a good experience with a super fun crowd that's very engaged in the success of Notre Dame. Highly recommend this be on everybody's bucket list. Get there early and walk around the campus to view the sites. Touchdown Jesus, the grotto, The gold dome etc. Beautiful campus, great people. What would you expect from the Midwest lol

Todd Woodstra — Google review

Obviously love the place but with so many fans, block off the field and let people walk the stadium. We had no luck getting any good views of the field, darn elevators needed a pass 🤣🤣

Erick Chomskis — Google review

Took a business trip up to Notre Dame and also took in a basketball game while we were there. Had great seats right behind the Louisville bench.! didn’t get the wind, but it was a great experience in the hospitality of the folks at Notre Dame was top-notch !!

Greg Cloud — Google review

If they sold beer in the stadium I'd give it 5 stars. The home crowd was unbelievably friendly. The stadium and campus were one of the most beautiful I've seen in my life of fandom. There's basically no rules about walking around with an open container while tailgating so right up until you walk in, it's perfect. Then you're drinking co*ke products the rest of the night. Hopefully this will change soon.

Basilica

Sights & Landmarks

The Basilica of the Sacred Heart is a stunning Catholic church from the 19th century, renowned for its beautiful stained-glass windows and frescoes. It holds significant historical and religious value and is located on the campus of Notre Dame. Visitors are advised to be respectful when entering as it is a peaceful and serene environment. The church also hosts wedding photoshoots so visitors should check scheduled times before arriving. Regardless of religion, anyone can appreciate the beauty this basilica has to offer.

This place is absolutely gorgeous. If you are ever on the campus of Notre Dame make sure you come and visit this basilica. I think I have been to all the basilicas in the world now so it feels good to visit this one again. The inside is very quiet and serene so make sure you are respectful when coming in. You don’t have to be Catholic to appreciate this beauty.

Wilson Reyes — Google review

Beautiful, worth visiting. Free to visit the church for an hour. They will give you a pass.

The place was nothing short of gorgeous! It was serene and carried a lot of historical and religious value. Be aware that there are always people having a wedding photoshoot so be mindful of scheduled times and church sessions.

Constantine Kim — Google review

Good photo opportunities. 8am mass only occurs during home games. Beautiful, ornate interior. Plenty of shade, smooth pavement and places to sit within 100 yards of the building.

Wendy Peters — Google review

The Basilica of the Sacred Heart at the University of Notre Dame is without a doubt my favorite Catholic Church of all time. From September 2017 until June 2018 and again for a football weekend in November 2019 I had the privilege of serving as a tour guide here and it remains without a doubt the best job I could ever ask for. The Basilica has so much history from the 19th Century French Stain Glass windows to the murals painted by Luigi Gregori and so much more. The Faith here is truly alive both the Daily and Sunday Masses that are celebrated here are so beautiful and the homilies are uplifting powerful and amazing. If your ever visiting Notre Dame's campus during a home football weekend or any time of the year is one place you should definitely check out the Basilica of the Sacred Heart.

Billy Guenter — Google review

Breathtaking. If you are EVER on Notre Dame campus see ALL the sights, but absolutely stop in here to see the chapel. We were also told by an usher that the stained glass in the chapel is some of the only remaining French stained glass in the world. A MUST SEE!! I can't even imagine what mass would be like here.

Sarah Burnham — Google review

Beautiful place we also visited the grotto it is not far from the church and also the Notre Dame bookstore. Just walking around is an honor!

JodiLynn Johnson — Google review

Breathtakingly beautiful! We held my grandfather's funeral mass here since he attended Notre Dame as an undergrad. This is one of the most gorgeous spaces I've ever seen. Truly remarkable and a must see if you're in South Bend!

Andrea Callahan — Google review

One of the most beautiful cathedrals I have ever visited being a Catholic. The inside is immaculate and the folks who show you around are helpful and full of knowledge. Even if you are not spiritual, just the peacefulness of the sanctuary and the artwork is a reason to visit.

Chris Brown — Google review

We were at the Basilica for our cousins Profession of Pertpetual Vows, the campus is a beautiful place. The Cathedral is an exquisite work of art, from columns supporting the roof structure, the alter, the Stations of the Cross, the the incredible stained glass windows. The entire campus is beautifully landscaped and well manicured. The history of the campus is interesting as well as enlightening. The lake is serene and peaceful, and the grotto is peculiarly silent even being near the roadway. It is reverent place and many students gather there is solitude and prayer. We were very impressed with the campus and it's beauty.

Stuber Velasquez — Google review

This is truely a place of worship dedicated to Jesus Christ. Round Barn Estate is a winery with an impressive wine selection and friendly staff. The staff are knowledgeable about their wines and offer helpful recommendations to patrons. The establishment offers flights of 6 pours each for $24, allowing customers to mix and match wines, spirits, and beer. Additionally, the atmosphere is unique with free igloo seating available for tastings at just $12 per person. Overall, Round Barn Estate is highly recommended for its fantastic wine selection and enjoyable atmosphere.

My wife and I love supporting Michigan made products and decided to try the Blueberry flavored wine. I myself am not a wine drinker, my wife had not even a half of a glass and later started to feel horrible. Everyone in the home had the same meal while my wife added a glass of wine, she started complaining of severe stomach pains and subsequently ended up hovering over the toilet for several hours throwing up. Maybe the blueberries went south, unfortunately this will be the only experience we will have with Round Barn Winery.

Shawn Wolf — Google review

We had a great tasting. The igloos are free to sit in and the tastings are $12 each. Cool atmosphere.

Amy Wagner — Google review

Really enjoyed the trail system and the variety of drinks! Spirits, wine, and other items on the menu! The live music was so nice to have with the drinks. It’s really great that the property is split into different areas so you can either sit at a table and listen to music or play corn hole and other games on the other side.

Crystina — Google review

Beautiful location with so many options for seating and they had live music when we arrived. Had looked forward to wine tasting but with all the wines pre-selected we opted not to do a tasting, as we would rather pick out our own tasting flight. It was a beautiful day and there was a market when we arrived which was a fun shopping surprise. Great wine choices and Round Barn is one of my favorite stops on the wine trail.

Teresa Lynnette — Google review

Wasn’t expecting the Round Barn Winery to be such a happening place. It’s family friendly, which I thought was great since my daughter has a 6 week old baby and we were celebrating her 26th Birthday. They offer cabanas, but they need to be reserved. Live music that can be heard throughout the venue, bags or some may call it corn hole, wine flights and drinks. It’s also pet friendly.Bring your lawn chairs if you’d like, or a blanket, a football or frisbee and enjoy the free entertainment with your family or friends.I’m a wine drinker and what I didn’t like was that they didn’t have a “Wine Tasting” per say. You could buy a flight if 4 for $15.

Dawn Graves (DawnG) — Google review

Wine was phenomenal. Staff was extremely helpful and friendly in helping us with wine selection. Got 2 flights each ( 6 pours each) for $24. Was able to mix and match wines, spirits, and beer as well which many establishments don't allow. Wine was fantastic. Highly recommend and I don't understand why this place sits at a 4 star rating.

njm 203 — Google review

This is a very unique place to visit! The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. I enjoyed looking at the bright flowers! I am not a wine drinker, but my friends really loved the wine (and slushies!) We took a short hike on the trails to check out the vines, and it was a gorgeous and scenic mini-hike.

Kimberly Stanbridge — Google review

Absolutely beautiful property! The barn is incredible and the grounds are definitely worth checking out! There’s live music even in the afternoons. There is so much to see. Their wines are all amazing! Especially their Peach Sangria! We will definitely be visiting them again! The staff are so helpful and kind. We were so impressed!

Michelle Parrish — Google review

I was very excited to attend the sangria event. I drove 45 minutes to get there about 30 minutes before the event started. They stated first 50 would get a free growler. I was in the line and was maybe 10th in line. At 11am they informed everyone that there would now be two lines. One for cards and one for cash. So the majority of people that were behind me went into the cash line. Due to this change and me not having cash I did not receive a growler due to the cash line moving a lot faster than the card line. I was highly disappointed in this experience. The food came out cold as well.

Kayla Buras — Google review

We had a great experience at around Barn winery. The igloos are confortable and let you enjoy the surroundings with your favorite wine from their winery. The food, sold at their food truck, is simple but good enough to complement the rest of the experience. The store has quality merchandise, perfect for gifts or souvenirs.Although marketed towards adults (it is a winery, after all), I would recommend the experience for people all ages.

Andi — Google review

Limited flight options. Had to a different stand to receive food. The bathroom trailer was big clean but not well stocked. Sinks were not working.

Diane Baki-Wuethrich — Google review

Went for an event where they had free growlers for the first 50 people. We waited for 20 minutes and were within the first 10 people there. Last second they opened a cash line and we ended up not getting the free growler. Food was cold and the wine is just ok.

Updated Review: Round Barn is great for a quick day trip from Chicago. It's set in a wooded are surrounded by grape vines. It had plenty of OUTDOOR seating and snacks to have with your wine! Indoor seating is hard to get so plan to be outside. I didn't even attempt to buy bottles of wine this time. Lol I'm updating my rating from a 1 to a 3****I really hope I could do two separate reviews because I had two very different experiences today. The first in the outdoor bar area: the servers were great, helpful and funny. My friend and I had a flight of sweet wine and a couple glasses. We loved it so much that we wanted to bring some bottles home. You may be wondering why the one star? Well, the bottles are sold in the gift shop. My friend and I were ready to make our purchase and leave. I was holding her things and checking out the wine. I asked the man working in the gift shop to help me find the wine I liked. He pointed at it. I asked if he could bring some to the register for me and he made a face and scoffed at me. I told him that my hands were full (I shouldn't have bc just general courtesy and hospitality is to be expected at ANY business) but I told him I would do it myself once my hands were free. I contemplated not buying anything at all but decided to put my feelings aside. I went to the register and he said, "I just want you to know that it wasn't a bother to grab the bottles for you." I said, "it didn't feel that way. What's your name?" And he said, "It's none of your business." That is how you lose customers. I would have raved about my experience and brought wine home to share with friends and made plans to head back out soon but, it's none of my business. There was no management on site according to the lady at the bar.

Monica Rojas — Google review

Round Barn is definitely worth a visit! The grounds are so beautiful, you can explore the buildings, vineyards, and wooded trails. They offer a wide variety of wines and drinks and the food trucks were soo good! There is plenty of space to sit, relax and explore. We loved our visit and will be back!

CC — Google review

Was a decent place to have a wine tasting. Prices are a bit steep and no more tasting in the round barn which kind of put a damper on the experience. But overall a nice place an atmosphere with live music.

Jason Popp — Google review

This is my opinion and I know others will disagree. This opinion is solely on the guest experience at the main location and not regarding the actual wines. The wines are still pretty good.Round Barn Winery for me used to be the first place to go for an amazing wine experience. I still have my sample wine glasses from 13 years ago that you would purchase to go and sample wine, head over to the barn building and enjoy a nice beer or sample beer. For me, the past few years, Round Barn has gone DOWN hill and turned into more of a “carnival” type atmosphere. Now, trying a sample of wine and having amazing staff that would talk about the notes and pairings has turned into a preselected flight at the outdoor container building or “food trailer.” For me, this place does not know what it wants to be, but only seems to be money first (yes, I know it’s a business) and lost the true guest experience that once made this place amazing.I do enjoy some of their wines but ever since this place decided to buy the neighboring and classy Tabor Hill (Which has also gone down hill over the years) this place will always be a unorganized carnival that lost its charm. Please bring back the some of the charm that once made this place the destination to go to in SW Michigan. Again, just my opinion.

Jeff Price — Google review

What an absolute delight. My fiancé and I came on a Thursday, mid afternoon. It wasn’t busy, which didn’t come as a surprise as most of their business would come from the weekends, however the staff was extremely attentive and helpful. After some light deliberation we selected a spirit flight and the sweet flight. The options provided within the flight were absolutely perfect. The outdoor seating, within the right weather, is an amazing experience. The best drink we had was definitely the Black Walnut Cream was the best tasting drink either of us have ever had, I would whole heartedly recommend to anyone, even if you’re not heavily into alcohol. We will definitely have to come back for a second visit!

The museum's beautiful building provided the perfect backdrop to explore the rich history of Studebaker, dating back to its early carriage days. The wealth of information presented in the exhibits was impressive, offering a comprehensive journey through the evolution of this iconic brand. Whether you're a Studebaker enthusiast or simply curious about automotive history, the Studebaker Museum is a must-visit destination that will leave you with a deeper appreciation for the brand's enduring legacy.

Beautiful styling. These Studebaker automobiles were and still are works of art. After visiting I understand why the museum is rated as high as it is. It was a pleasant afternoon with my wife.

This is a very impressive museum for both car enthusiasts as well as those interested in history. There are displays that cover Studebakers early years of wagon and coach building all the way to the last car they made. I especially enjoyed seeing the prototypes and specialty vehicles. The facilities are very nice and inviting. There is even a gift shop. You won't be disappointed.

I was there with a company that actually rented the museum for the evening and the museum catered an amazing meal. It was comfort food done right! And we were welcome to tour the museum as well. It was a wonderful museum and there was a car there to use as a photo op. One of the areas had a person from the museum sharing fun information about some of the cars. That was an added bonus!

It is an ideal location for children to visit, it has a lot of cars and a lot of nice places for children to play. There is a small classroom, a small children's house, a small kitchen, and a small camping place. The children had a lot of fun

Very nice and larger than I expected. Being from Lansing, everything was always “Oldsmobile “it was nice to learn about the huge impact of Studebaker‘s! Incredibly clean, nice bathrooms I would definitely Pee here again. Also toured the Oliver house huge and beautiful. So much unknown history.

Very neat museum! My dad was a Studebaker/Packard guy, so it definitely brought back a lot of memories. Lots of cool cars and horse-drawn carriages on display, plenty of informational displays telling you about the history of the company. My little boy enjoyed seeing how much the cars cost back in the day, and walking on the paving surface samples throughout the chronologically-organized museum.

Joshua Carter — Google review

An excellent museum presenting the entire history of the Studebaker car company. Lots of exhibits, original cars and many other interesting artifacts. An absolute must-visit for every motoring fan. I recommend spending a few hours visiting this museum because there is a lot to see. To sum up: Awesome.

A great collection of cars including presedent vehicles since 1800s, you can take a photo sitting inside a retro car

Jawad Siddique — Google review

We went at a good time. It wasn't very busy at all. We chose to go there because we were reading a children's book from 1904 and there were many older cars in the book. So, I took my son to see the old cars for himself.

Dana Tennison — Google review

I really good collection of cars. This was the main reason I visited South bend this last time. I know people mainly go to SB for ND but if you are around go visit the museum. Take advantage and take a tour of the Oliver Mansion which is in the same grounds.

Very nice museum. Huge selection of Studebaker's to view, spread out over a two story building. Also attached to the History Museum. Offer free admission for active duty service members and discounts for veterans.

Josh Hollinger — Google review

Clean step back into history, with lots of vehicles from over 100 years of history. Friendly staff, clean bathrooms, gift shop, and kids area. 3 floors with elevator access. Decent prices for the car museum and also options for the history museum next door.

📸 ❤️ Nothing like capturing an amazing Wedding at the Studebaker Museum! 🚙🥰Our team got the chance to spend the day with our couple and we cannot wait to come back and photograph / video another wedding here. 🥰The location has endless possibilities, the staff is amazing and it's such a unique spot that it's an experience all on its own.

Nice little museum that we got to go to on a Sunday. With the SJC library pass, you can see this and the history museum for free (up to 6 people) and we enjoyed it. I do wish there was a better way of an app or like an audio tape to play while we were walking around, the app was hard to work around, and I couldn't find where it did the walk through. Otherwise, we loved coming here and seeing all the cars and the history museum. I did think it was funny seeing some things in the history section that came from my childhood lol... starts to show my age LOL.

Courtney Baker-Beck — Google review

Absolutely loved the buggy's all the way to the concept cars. Very clean three story facility with friendly and knowledgeable staff. They tell you anything you want to learn. I will go again when I am in town.

Chris Brown — Google review

Really cool museum filled with 120 or so classic cars from different periods of time. Nice way to spend an hour or two at a very reasonable price ($11 per adult ticket).

Scott Nelsen — Google review

If you're a motor head or a ghost chaser this is a good place to stop since it offers both! The Studebaker part is 3 stories on one side, the other side is the haunted history of Indiana. Both are neat!

Buckle up, gearheads, because the Studebaker National Museum in South Bend, Indiana, just blew my doors off! This ain't your grandpa's dusty car collection – it's a chrome-plated, high-octane thrill ride through automotive history. From the moment you step into the sleek, modern building, you're transported to a world of gleaming Studebakers, from the earliest horseless carriages to the futuristic bullet-nosed dream machines. These aren't just cars, they're rolling works of art, each one a testament to American ingenuity and craftsmanship. The exhibits are more than just static displays – they're interactive, immersive experiences. You can hear the engines roar, smell the leather seats, and practically feel the wind in your hair as you cruise through vintage ads and historical footage. And the stories! Every car has a tale to tell, from presidential parades to Hollywood roadsters, and the knowledgeable docents are there to spin those yarns like master mechanics. But the museum ain't just about Studebakers, it's about the whole darned history of South Bend. You'll see how this little Hoosier town became the "Gear City," churning out wagons, carriages, and even military vehicles that shaped the nation. And let's not forget the Presidential Carriage Collection – talk about rolling history books! You'll come face-to-face with the carriage Lincoln rode to Ford's Theatre, and trust me, chills will run down your spine.Whether you're a gearhead grease monkey or just a history buff with a sense of adventure, the Studebaker National Museum is a must-visit. It's a place where imagination fuels the engine, and the past roars back to life in glorious technicolor. So hit the gas and head to South Bend – you're in for a ride you won't forget!**Bonus points:** Don't miss the gift shop – it's a treasure trove of vintage car memorabilia, perfect for finding that unique souvenir or stocking stuffer. And if you're feeling peckish, the Tippecanoe Place Restaurant on-site serves up some mean comfort food that'll refuel your engine for more exploring.**Final verdict:** Five out of five wrenches! The Studebaker National Museum is a polished gem, a purring masterpiece, a guaranteed good time for anyone with a pulse and a love for history (or hot rods!). Take my word for it, you'll leave with a smile wider than a '57 Studebaker Hawk's grille. Now go, vroom vroom!

Nature & Parks

Warren Dunes State Park is a popular destination for those seeking stunning natural scenery and outdoor recreation opportunities. The park boasts impressive 260-foot-tall dunes that offer breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. Visitors can obtain a State Parks Recreation Passport to gain access to the park's best beaches, which are among the area's finest. Additionally, the park features over 300 acres of terrain with beech and maple forests that provide peaceful riverside hikes and ample space for picnicking.

Made a plan of hiking here Saturday morning of a trip to get the day started. I was sorely mistaken on how easy I thought this hike was gong to be. We choose to do the rectangle loop beginning at Nature Trailhead and walking down to the beach and back around. The dunes were awesome to hike! We got a tad lost trying to get back to our car because there aren’t many signs near the beach area. We thought it would be a five mile trail walk and ended up taking 2 hours and burned 800 calories. Overall, 10/10. Bring water and wear sunscreen! Saw a few people other and about, but it wasn’t super packed for a nice day.

Shayla Smith — Google review

Dune Hike is outstanding. It is 4 miles, most of it in moderate to deep sand. So start early when it is still cool. Hike takes you to the top of Mt. Randall and then over the lakeside dunes to the lake. The hike incorporates a long walk on the beach (~1 mi?) before taking you back into the dunes, finishing in a mature dune forest. The described route is counterclockwise on the loop which is recommended. Going counterclockwise allows you to do the most challenging climb first (up to the top of what I assume to be Mt. Randall, including a final 'summit' climb of about 100-120 feet elevation in steep and deep sand...take your time!) and then finish on packed sand in the woods. It is listed as "moderate" and I have no big beef with that description but there are some parts that are difficult so just prepare yourself. It is worth it because it is a beautiful hike in a beautiful park. Not trying to discourage but just keeping it real. It took us about 2 hours and 15 minutes to complete but we did frequently stop to enjoy the views and take some photos. If you were hustling you could probably get it done in an hour and a half. Not sure why you would want to hustle through that hike though because it is remarkably beautiful.

Christopher Brej — Google review

BEAUTIFUL!!! We went during early March when there wasn't many people around and wow I mean wow the dunes were so beautiful and the views oh my lord it's incredible. The hikes are brutal though and not for the faint of heart! Even during a cold March day we had to drink lots of water so be careful.

Steven T. — Google review

Really loved this beach! Took a day trip from Chicago (took about 1.5 hour without tolls) to enjoy the nice weather. It's chillier and windier on the beach than in the park, so I'd recommend being prepared for that. However, the beach was clean and surprisingly long with plenty of spots to hang out. The sand was soft on the beach and dunes, and the parking lots were equally large, providing generous parking capacity. Restrooms were clean and right between the beach and the parking lot. Admission to park for me (non-resident) was $10 and there's re-entry the same day. I can see this place really being a great getaway from the city during the summer, and if it were warmer, going in the lake would be quite refreshing. Highly recommend!

Addison Cahill — Google review

Very quiet and peaceful place. Spent time at the park to unwind after work and found it to be a great stop. Hiking the dunes is a great experience, but with moderately deep sand it can be strenuous so plan accordingly. Next to no waves the day I was there, just a beautiful sunset fading behind the calm waters of Lake Michigan. Definitely worth the trip!

Steve Johnson — Google review

Wonderful place! Completely enjoyed the 4 mile hike up the dunes. Tough hike so wear comfortable hike shoes and carry water and some snacks! Can't tell u how many people hiked it and were sick because they were dehydrated, so carry loads of water. Beautiful views from the top. $11 entrance fee for non residents. Totally worth it! Avoid weekends as it gets crowded. I went on a Wednesday so barely anyone there. Best go in the morning when it's cooler.

Jasmine — Google review

It's a great place to cool off. The dunes are also amazing! However, be forewarned that it gets CROWDED and some (most) people don't understand personal space. So if you're looking for a relaxing time - this is not it. It is LOUD and people will be on top of you. If you are like me (married, no kids) move down the beach as far as you can get and bring floats so you can go out past the bouys to get some sort of peace and quiet.

Hannah D. — Google review

$11 out of state day pass was well worth it. They only accept cash/check for entry.Climbing the dunes is a major highlight. Beautiful views on the hiking trail and the trail leads right to the lake in a loop style. There is also a section of the beach for dogs. Bring bug spray!

Angela Brown Appleberry — Google review

My daughter and I were visiting the area for Christmas weekend and we took advantage of the unseasonably warm weather. We visited Warren Dunes twice and just enjoyed the shoreline and scenery. She put her feet in the (COLD!!) water and I sat in my chair in the sand. It was quiet and beautiful and a really wonderful way to connect with nature. We go to the beaches and dunes a lot in the summer and they are always packed but it was so nice having practically the whole beach and state park to ourselves.

Valerie — Google review

This was the first State Park where there was an honor system self pay box. Please make sure you put your payment in the slotted square post behind the envelope holder, not back into the envelope holder. It was a little confusing at first but we got it figured out. The park pass is only $10 so make sure you have change, money order or a check. The receipt and window display can be detached from the envelope and kept.Visiting Warren Dunes was totally worth the perplexity.Parking was a breeze. Beach access is appx 100 yards down from the parking lot. Camping is permitted. There are plenty of new restroom facilities and a gift shop along the Dunes.Last but not least, Warren Dunes is absolutely beautiful!!

Coach Connie — Google review

We came here for the first time for a family reunion. The sites are all varied from small and private to larger and sunnier. The beach has plenty of parking, and there’s even a dog beach. There is a small store on site which has all camping needs. The surrounding town has a lot of places to eat as well. For those who make the trip to the top, the dunes offer a great view. Check with the site hosts for things to do - communal bonfires and such. The rangers do keep a close eye on those wandering the beach after it closes. The beaches were clean and sandy; there was a small ribbon of rocks/shells/algae, but nothing that was of concern. The campsites were clean, the bathrooms had plenty of stalls, running water, unisex, private shower rooms, and were stocked when were there. There was a whole crew out cleaning the bathrooms as we were leaving.

Jeannine Szostak — Google review

Absolutely worth a day trip here. The beach is clean, the water is beautiful and so much to do. $11 will get you entry. Large parking with two different lots. A food truck and slushie truck onsite so you don’t even have to leave. Lots to do here from enjoying the water, sunbathing and hiking. Beware, the steep terrain can tire you out. There’s also a creek with mud to play in. There’s restrooms and changing stations onsite right off the parking lot. This was worth the extra distance to come here over the Indiana Dunes. Well worth the trip and easy to make a day trip out of. It wasn’t overly busy for a Friday. Getting early allowed us to pick any spot we wanted.

Jon Novak — Google review

I love Warren dunes…such a beautiful place for a family trip to the beach. There are big dunes for hiking and playing on and a beautiful beach for swimming and sunning. If you’ve got kids, the sand is good for building sand castles, but be careful as there is quite a bit of debris in the sand and there is a bit of rip tide in the water.Bathrooms are convenient, and there is a gift shop and food concessions.

Aj Sue — Google review

Beautiful hidden gem in southern Michigan. We barely even touched upon it's vastness. Definitely quite a hike walking through sand but well worth it. My daughter said it feels like you're on a different planet. Judging by the amount of paw prints in the sand I'd say this place is dog friendly. Just an all around great place to explore. We'll be heading back to explore more of this beauty in spring.

tracy lyon — Google review

A very special place, where the water meets the sand meets the forest. Really beautiful hikes and sweeping views. Plenty of parking but beware that the bathrooms are closed and the tables pit away for the winter.

Amanda Kilroe — Google review

A fun beach. I've never been when the beach wasn't clean. People are good about picking up after themselves. The water is always chilly. The dunes are fun. It's nice that you walk up as far as you want then run down vs running down then having to climb back up like sleeping bear.Restrooms are always clean. There is a fee to get in. If we didn't have the pass I'd still be ok paying it since the amenities are well kept up.Overall, a fun place to just hangout and have fun or relax.

Marsha Ann K — Google review

We went on the 4th of July and I really thought it would be more crowded than it was. We found some decent real-estate near the water and weren't encroached upon at all (other than by a greedy seagull, but that's another story). The water was very clear and was already close to 70 degrees (F), which made swimming a real treat in the heat of the day. The sandbar isn't too far out and makes for a great escape if the water at the shore gets a little too rambunctious. You'll notice some folks walking around covered in clay (like something out of National Geographic). You can, and should, find out why. Follow the little stream up into the woods (I highly recommend using the foot path, but if you prefer to slog through the water that's cool too). This will lead you to a spot where you can scrape clay out of the walls of the riverbank and cover yourself up in fresh earth. There is a pretty big hill to climb that gives a great view of everything around, also. It's worth the trek up there around sunset to really appreciate the natural beauty of the lake itself. All in all it was an enjoyable experience for all of us. I do wish people would clean up after themselves, but that has nothing to do with the dunes themselves, so I won't hold it against them.

Aaron D. Tanner (Biduman) — Google review

We enjoy driving places and finding surroundings in the area to visit!! After a trip to New Buffalo beach we discovered this hidden gem for $11 parking and you can literally spend the entire day here and adventure!! My 12 year old daughter and I conquered the dune and my wife watched us from halfway and got some great pics!! It's totally worth the try and the bathrooms are cleanly, the park is well policed and very safe and the gift shop has every need you would have while on site at a State Park!! WOW WOW WOW!! We loved it and will be back for another visit shortly!!

Love this place. Have gone there several times over the summer. My grandkids and I spent a whole day at the beach and loved it. Also have taken a lot of people here on different occasions. Thankfully I have the Park pass on my license in Michigan. ❤️

Huge Casino lot's of slot machines! Great hotel with really nice rooms! It seems like it is smoke free now which makes it much nicer experience! Really nice hotel room if you're to tired to go home! The food was excellent! Everyone loved everything they ordered! Uses REAL bacon for their BLT! Yummy! Of you have not been here I definitely would recommend it!

Excellent casino! We come here mainly for the buffet, we drive all the way from Illinois, about 1.5 hr drive because its worth it. The buffet used to have more food selections, such as Asian, Italian, Mediterranean, currently they are down to a fraction of the previous capacity. I was told recently they will be returning to full service soon however, sometime October 2022 but not 100% certain. We have not tried the other restaurants, I would bet they are all good. As for the casino, its clean, and very well laid out. There are numerous shops inside also to purchase items if you intend to stay at the hotel. We have not had the opportunity to stay at the hotel, but imagine its also very well maintained. I feel like I'm in vegas when coming to this casino. We just hope they get that buffet going to full speed again, we would visit much more frequently and spend more money if only that buffet were fully operational.

**Updated**We have stayed here many times and it is always a pleasure, the rooms are clean, well cared for and the staff is so friendly and helpful. We absolutely loved our stay in April in the Deluxe Suite, the two room suite was amazing. The jetted tub faced the windows so we had a beautiful view of the sunset while we relaxed. The bathroom doors kind of made us laugh a bit, they just look like closet doors, so we called it Narnia 🤣🤣 the whole room was comfortable and inviting. We've been staying here regularly in smoking and non-smoking rooms, the deluxe suite is a non-smoking room, and the second best room you can get besides their celebrity suites. It is always a pleasure staying here, even if the slots aren't being so nice lol.Absolutely loved it here, the room was amazing, the shower especially. The whole staff was so welcoming and accommodating, very helpful with any questions we had. The room was very clean and well stocked. The buffet was omg, so good. So many options for food, and so many desserts. The drinks served at the c-bar were delicious. On site Starbucks was great and the cashier was very helpful and so cheerful. Lost money on the floor but went for fun, will be back asap lol

My wife and I went here for a concert at their venue, Silver Creek Event Center, and stayed the night. There was a self check-in option which I think would've been quicker; however, as we've never stayed there before, we elected to use a person to check in. There was a short wait, but not too bad.The room was clean and very spacious with a great view. It had a mini fridge, a microwave, and a Kurieg with some k-cups. You likely won't find any bargains though, I think we paid around $330 for one night, and there was no room service when we stayed if that matters to you. They did have an outdoor pool area and a fitness center.Neither of us are big gamblers so I can't speak much to that experience, except to say that they did have a lot of machines and table games to choose from. I do love that it's a smoke free casino (there are designated smoking rooms if you are a smoker). There are also places to hang out if you want to do something other than gamble. There is a sports betting area to sit and watch sports (with a bar if you want to order a drink), a restaurant on the casino floor, Timbers, if you want to stop and eat, and other bars also located on the casino floor. They also have a Steakhouse, Kankakee River Grill, a buffet, a coffee shop, and other gift shops. We elected to eat at Timbers and the service for food was SLOW. If you're going to an event and want to eat beforehand, better get there plenty early, like at least an hour maybe more.We enjoyed the concert, the show was very good. I would recommend sitting in the back if you're going to a concert as they have stadium seating in the back and it's comfortable. It looked like just banquet chairs up front.Overall it was an enjoyable experience, all of the staff members were friendly and helpful. The only downsides I would say are that it's not cheap and the food service is slow.

I’m freshly 21 so 4 winds is my first experience at a casino. It definitely was not a disappointment. The staff were all very nice and inviting. They have a nice bar that made very taste, pretty looking drinks. They have a wide verity of different types of machines to check out. The building itself is huge and there is a lot to looks at. The place is very clean too. I have started getting vouchers in the mail too which is nice. Overall I highly recommend giving this place a visit. Just remember to play in moderation and be smart.

Will definitely come back to see another concert here. Acoustics were good.Washrooms are well maintained. No smoking allowed inside which is a plus but people were allowed to smoke too close to leaving the building forcing people to walk through the smoke! The

Stayed a couple of nights in gorgeous rooms. The staff was great! The hallways were cool and reminded me of scary movies where the hallways never end. The beds were comfortable and the showers were to die for. The TV screen had a fireplace running and was so relaxing. Definitely going back.

Steph D — Google review

The staff were all so friendly and nice. Can’t complain about a single person. The dealers were also very friendly and fun to joke around with while playing. My only complaint are the room temperatures. Felt like we were in an inferno at first. It cooled down later in the night but it was still a bit muggy and tough to sleep. Next time I’m heading back to GR from Chicago I’ll definitely be back but might have to consider the Holiday Inn across town for sleeping due to the temperature of our room.

Disclaimer: dont normally spend much time at casino's.Four winds casino's is not the flashiest casino I have ever been to, that would most likely go to one in Vegas.I do think this casino is very nice and well kept. Everything is well finished and clean. It does not smell saturated with smoke. There are very nice restaurant/ bar options. The buffet has great prime rib Saturday's! The casino does a great job decorating for the holidays and making transitions! I would recommend for adults in the area that have a free night to experience part of southwest Michigan. Great environment to watch sports at the bars and center areas!

Dennis Schneider — Google review

Such a beautiful place. Hotel rooms were big and comfortable. The buffet was decent, the cold salad and dessert was the best part. Hot food was lacking. The grill had good food, liked breakfast the most. Definatly a older crowd. They do have entertainment on the weekend. There were people winning on the slots but seemed to be more losing then winning. I only got lucky on one machine and it really was just making the money back that I had lost. Several machines I was looking for they didn't have. For a night getaway with alittle play its great. Customer service is good. No smoking anywhere in the building. No free alcohol while playing games. But the drink we did purchase was $12 at the bar, it was strong and good. Not my first choice of places to go but I would return again.

First time trying the buffet. There are so many choices. Overall, it was pretty good. Will probably go back.

Second time visiting this beautiful casino after visiting 2 years ago. Absolutely love the decor throughout and the fabulous grounds. Everything is well cared for including the flower gardens to the inside structure. The casino area was the biggest improvement over these 2 years since I was here. It is brighter and has ALL the up-to-date slot machines and plenty of them. I recently visited Las Vegas and they didn't have all the newest games, so I was very impressed with Four Winds Casino selection of new slots. During my 6-day vacation, I came back to Four Winds numerous times and it wasn't boring any of the days. Payouts were large and frequent; you could play for hours without losing much and it wasn't overcrowded. It is a nonsmoking casino, but they do have a beautiful area indoors to go to and they will let you smoke outdoors.Food was pretty good at Timbers and was very good at the buffet. Tried to eat at Kankakee Grill, but no luck. It either was closed for the day or had awful dinner hours throughout the week.As for all the restaurants at Four Winds, well it was VERY tricky to find anything open after 9 pm during the week. (A bit better on weekends) As everything in New Buffalo closes early, many restaurants here have many "days NOT open" and constant changing of dining hours for each restaurant. It made it very hard and FRUSTRATING to get anything to eat after 9:30 pm. Timbers was a safe bet to find something to eat, but even they had their issues. Long lines to wait in because many of the other restaurants closed early and forced customers to Timbers. I waited over an hour to get a hamburger. So, unless the stars line up with the planets just right and/or you eat before 10 pm, make sure you have other plans for getting food. Actually, this is just nonsense and it needs to change. So, while the restaurants are not very promising or reliable, the main floor casino was very good. I enjoyed playing the games at Four Winds Casino and will do so again next year.

My husband and I enjoyed our stay at Four Winds Casino New Buffalo. It's a visually appealing casino and resort. We checked in via self-check-in which was quick and easy. Our room was affordable, nice, comfortable, and clean. Our room included an in-room safe and mini fridge. The Four Winds Casino is a spacious casino with a very large selection of slot machines, as well as table games. We play slots and enjoyed both the selection and availability of machines. We also won enough to keep playing which is what we strive for. The casino area was clean. They had a selection of complimentary Coca-Cola products, water, and coffee, as well as alcohol available for purchase. The Four Winds Casino has a selection of restaurants. We opted for Timbers Fast Food & Deli for a late pizza. They were very busy and although the staff was friendly, the man working the til was extremely slow and didn't seem like that was his forte. The pizza was affordable and good. They also have a very nice gift shop on the premise which also includes a few necessities/toiletries.Overall, we enjoyed our stay at Four Winds Casino New Buffalo. It's a very nice casino and resort that we would visit again!

Sarah Hook — Google review

Very inviting atmosphere and tastefully decorated for the holidays. Rooms were very nice, and beds were comfortable. While I really appreciated the smoke-free atmosphere of the casino proper, there was a lingering smell of cigarette smoke on our floor and in our "no smoking" room. We ended up needing to launder clothing we wore and that we took out of our suitcase. Our room overlooked the pool area, and while closed for the season, was decoratively lighted. This is certainly a place we would weekend at again.

The wife and i have been going up Sundays for a little gambling and lunch. The first few times I asked for a comp for lunch. No problem sir. Only $20 or so, nice gesture, today. Nope, sorry. Check back later maybe. Really? Asked later and it was like buying a used car. How about $8? Dropping like 6-800 in a couple hours and this is the thanks we get? Cmon four winds. Wont be back for a long while after that nonsense. Not like we wanted a hotel room or something.

David Thornburgh — Google review

The entire casino is like walking into a living morgue. It is extremely dark and depressing atmosphere. Smoking should also not be allowed as it is detrimental to one's health including non-smokers. I would not recommend.

Nadia — Google review

I genuinely don’t need to know anything about a casino and their immense greed past discovering that they, like many other greedy casinos, did something as simple as turning the ability to split and double on digital blackjack machines off. Some idiot with an MBA realized if they squeezed every single potential advantage, they’d shave a point or two extra away from their customers in a business that already guarantees insane profit. They do this all while reducing amenities like closing their late night food option at midnight on the weekend. Post covid greed gripped all casinos and this one is no exception.

Jeff Webb — Google review

Love this casino, it's definitely a beautiful experience right from the long entryway where you drive through a peacefully aesthetic forest scene that approaches the casino. You have a choice of the parking lot or parking garage. Once inside you are greeted with many options to start your stay. A small store with some clothing options, Starbucks, several dinning options depending on your budget, the tables and the slots. Non smoking including vapes but it's a small price to pay to not have to smell cigarettes and cigars next to your machine. There is an indoor area to smoke as well as designated areas outside. The self serve sodas (co*ke products) and coffee are usually always kept clean and are a great addition to the relaxed atmosphere. I love the fact that there's an expansive amount of slot machines, even on busy weekends you can usually find an area without 'bumping elbows' with other patrons if you aren't the type to enjoy someone right next to you. Always sign up for a membership card, there's sure to be an incentive like credit for food or gambling that comes with. Good luck!

I went to a concert. I am NOT a gambler, so this is just hotel and food. The beds are rock hard.NO SUNDAY MORNING BRUNCH BUFFET.Seriously, who does that? Weddings, parties, and no brunch? Monsters. We left the property early to find food.No pool in winter because, of course, the only one they have is outside.Otherwise, the water pressure was great. The event room was an intimate size without being stuffy. The concert was amazing.

I love Four Winds. I've been going there for over 20 years. One year, my son gave me & his dad an anniversary gift to stay overnight in a beautiful suite. We loved it. I will continue to go.

We've been here before but never stayed overnight. We stayed for 2 nights. The rooms are clean and spacious.Had a nice stay. No issues.Went to check in and park briefly by the doors to unload. The VALET parking guy was creaming at us to move!!!He was very rude and very unprofessional!!!If Four Winds has any control over the Valet parking employees you might want to speak to them.

Can't find a dress code anywhere on the website. However as a concert goer I'm dressed for a band I like. Got there early only to be told I'm not allowed to gamble on the floor 🤔 that's fine but maybe a little note before buying tickets or I don't know put out some more info about when doors open I checked the website and found nothing other than the start time.

Stayed in the hotel for a show. Impressed with security. Everything was clean. Shower was great. The beds are pretty stiff if you are used to cushion. They do not have a Sunday breakfast brunch. Missed opportunity for the weddings and concert crowds.

Fifi Keyser — Google review

Go here quite a bit but lately I've have been going to Gun Lake or Fire Keepers. At Fourwinds, it just seems like they have the machines tighter and you don't win that often. At least at the other places you can win enough to play and get entertained by the slots, even if you lose some.

We arrived May 10th for my 39th Birthday. My Fiance planned our weekend without me knowing lol. This was taken from 9th floor a beautiful view. The landscaping they did was beautiful lol I definitely have some ideas for my backyard thanks to the Resort.. The staff all have good attitudes and they make sure you have everything you need.. I never been to a Hotel Resort that had friendly staff even housekeeping that was getting rooms ready greeted us and welcomed us. I recommend this Hotel Resort if you need a getaway from all the daily stress from work and relax and enjoy the spa and the hot tub they have on the property or use the one in your room. And the king size beds oh man I slept like a baby lol. But we had a great time and enjoyed my Birthday weekend i also won some extra cash in the Casino. Four Winds thanks so much for giving us the Studio Suite! ☺

Wow, this winery is fantastic!! The food is delicious, the wine menu is rich and diverse, the management and staff are hospitable and wonderful, the environment is aesthetically and in all other ways pleasing. I enjoyed every moment of my visit thoroughly. The ordering situation is a bit unique. You walk up, order your food/beverages, pay, and then take your seats and your order is delivered to your table.

Shady Creek Winery is very inviting and vibrant with an open concept allowing plenty of natural light which I loved. The wines were very good the reason for 3 stars for the food is because I only had the flatbread which was good but need to explore the menu a bit more. It was cold outside so couldn’t enjoy the patio seating. This was my first time but definitely won’t be my last definitely recommend for date night or a girls day out.

P Moore — Google review

Beautiful location and great wines. We did not enjoy the experience of sitting on the patio and going inside to the bar to order our wine and food. It was difficult to carry multiple flights to our table and push open the patio doors. We were here at lunch... Not sure if the experience is different at dinner. Bring your wallet to the bar. It's pay as you go. I think the experience was just not what we were expecting. We enjoyed the dry red and sweet flights. The avocado rolls and chicken cuban were both good. The patio is beautiful with views of a little creek and fountain. We loved the yard games! They have bags, Jenga, frisbees, lawn dice and a football. There is a gift shop with lots of wine themed gifts and bottles of Shady Creek wine.

This place is under construction at the moment, but doesn't effect the taste of the mulled wine. The old beautiful barn is gone, but there's another being built. This place will be awesome when construction is done. It is currently open for business during construction.

We celebrated a 50th birthday and had a group of 10 women. The winery is absolutely gorgeous both outside and in. We thoroughly enjoyed our tour, showcasing all of the beautiful event spaces (that many of us are already planning on tapping into for future personal/corporate parties). There were so many wonderful wines to choose from, we tasted quite a few and they all showcased amazing flavors. The staff was very welcoming and extremely accommodating and took such great care of our group. We tried and shared a variety of food options and the consensus was overwhelming that the food was in no way secondary to the wine. Given the fact that our group kept cancelling our other winery stops for the day, you could say it was a huge success! We will all be back for another visit soon!

Shady Creek Winery is inviting and tranquil. It's the perfect place to get away. Not only is the food amazing, their wine selections are impressive, and the staff just amazing. The ambiance is second to nothing else in the area. It's such a beautiful location, I can't say it enough. Make sure you come with someone special because you'll mess around and fall in love with this gorgeous backdrop. I wouldn't even mind going my myself. It's so lovely.❤️

This is the perfect place for a night out full of fun atmosphere and cute pink bubbky aesthetic. We tried a couple wine flights and they were so pleasantly met with their different wines. There was a little bit of a wait but went by quickly.

Heidi Schon — Google review

We visited 5 wineries on the trail and Shady Creek was my least favorite. They are certainly the biggest and prettiest but not the cleanest. The tower my flight was served on was dirty. it was sticky and had fabric stuck to it. Who wants to drink wine that was on a dirty tower? Furthermore, I believe I was served old cheese with my bread and oil because I’m pretty sure what I observed was mold. Needless to say I did not even finish eating it. Also, each of the other wineries gives you 4 choices for flights, while Shady Creek only gives 3 for the same price. Loved the live music and the view but that’s about it.

I’m a local photographer and a client of mine asked for me to photograph his proposal to his girlfriend (now, Fiance!) at Shady Creek Winery! This is a favorite spot of ours to visit and enjoy food and wine, so I was thrilled to visit again with my camera and capture the beauty of the space with a beautiful couple to pair! He had arranged with their coordinator, Jane, to have a barrel set up with flowers, a bottle of sparkling wine, and a few glasses upstairs. She was so helpful and even met me ahead of time to show me where the photo location would be for the big moment. The day came and the proposal happened without a hitch - she said YES! 💍🎉 we then went and took a few photos around the property to celebrate before they headed off to their igloo for food, more delicious wine & to celebrate! Thank you Shady Creek for being such a gracious host for this beautiful proposal and making everything so smooth and successful!

Alyssa Staats Photography — Google review

The place was hopping and we were lucky we reserved an igloo in advance. The staff were friendly enough, but I did experience some frustration. I was interested in the veggie pizza but it said the veggies varied, and you needed to ask for the veggies of the day. I asked about the veggies of the day to make sure I liked what would be going on my pizza. The waitress didn't know. So I asked who would know, and she went and asked the manager. The manager didn't know, so again, I asked who would know. They said the chef, so I asked if they could please ask the chef. The waitress went and asked and came back with, I kid you not, "asparagus and other veggies". I was like, what other veggies? She was like, I don't know, veggies that go with asparagus. Ugh. I ended up just ordering a plain cheese pizza. After I ordered it, my friend was inside and the manager had found out what the veggies were and let her know so she could tell me. I did end up being able to then change my order to the veggie pizza. So, I guess in the end they figured it out but dang, that was a frustrating experience. After that though I felt like they stepped up their game and our service was fast and efficient. I did enjoy the food and the drinks that we had there. I really hemmed and hawed over their rating but I went with 4 stars because although I was frustrated, they did eventually get the answer to me and she could have let it be since I'd already ordered my food technically.

This was my second time there it was even better than the first time I went. The first time I was there they were still under construction. The staff there is wonderful. The Shady Creek winery has a nice ambience going on. The food and wine selection is amazing. The gift shop is open now with some really cute trinkets candles smelled great. The shady creek winery also have the outdoor igloos to dine in. Fire pits as well. The shady creek winery over all a nice place. It won’t disappoint if does it’s because of you. The host that took our pictures was phenomenal I forgot her name.

This was our first time here and it was a very nice experience! The wines were very good, I had the red umbrella, the Pinot Noir and the Zinfandel. I don’t drink Zinfandel but it was a recommendation from one of the servers, I tried it and it was very nice, bold taste! We had their charcuterie and other items from the menu and the paired well with the wines. Definitely going back.

Gina C. — Google review

My relationship with Shady Creek Winery extends over several years, a time during which I've seen it transform from a quaint wine haven to what I can only describe as a commercialized and industrial blight. While the winery still holds some appeal, my recent visit left me longing for the warmth and charm that once defined it.The winery's space is undeniably massive, boasting a large dog-friendly outdoor area and two levels of interior space. Unfortunately, the ambiance has shifted towards a cold, barren, and industrial aesthetic, leaving me yearning for the cozy and welcoming atmosphere it once offered.Service at Shady Creek has also evolved, moving away from a traditional waitstaff approach to a bar service model. Customers are required to order both food and drinks at the counter, with food brought to the table and drinks left to the customers to carry back. While I can appreciate the efficiency this might offer, the practicality of managing a flight of wine through a bustling winery can be rather challenging.Seating proved to be another issue. We were placed at a table that could barely accommodate more than a couple of glasses of wine, let alone a meal. The close proximity of adjacent tables made for an uncomfortable dining experience, lacking in privacy and intimacy, and making the enjoyment of shared food items a logistical puzzle. The food, while pleasant, was steeply priced. I opted for a Food and Wine pairing, which, for $25, offered three small pours of wine and three slivers of cheese. While the pairings themselves were delightful and the wine was acceptable, the sheer smallness of the plates was a surprise. My companion did, however, seem to enjoy the pizza we ordered. In the wake of their extensive remodel, I've had some enjoyable moments at Shady Creek Winery, but my recent visit doesn't rank among them. It's disappointing to see a once-charming destination lose its essence in the name of expansion and modernization. Here's hoping Shady Creek can find a balance between its commercial aspirations and the warm, inviting charm that once made it so special.

One of the best wineries in NWI. The atmosphere and view of the grounds are breathtaking. The staff is meticulously attentive. Wine varieties smooth velvety and delicious. The pizza ( margaritas, sausage and pepperoni) is beyond delicious. Chicken sliders were delicious. This venue is a true gem in NWI. Can't go wrong.

I always have a wonderful time at Shady Creek! Years ago a friend used to hold a heart awareness fundraiser there before it was completely remodeled, and now it’s even more gorgeous and relaxing! Their fire place is cozy and last night there was a gentleman playing his guitar and was really good! My friends and I dined there while enjoying our wine and every item brought out was delicious and pleasing to the senses. If you want a fun time with family or friends, this place is a must!

We were here during summer and the line to enter the parking was huge. It took a while for us to get a spot in the Parking area. However, it was worth the wait. Although it's on the shores of lake Michigan, the beach gave us a feeling as if we were on some Ocean beach. Midwest's very own coast, I'd say :) Plus, the water here is fresh water. We took the 3 dune challenge followed by spending time catching a spectacular sunset with Chicago's skyline at the backdrop. Recommended to visit on a weekday when there is less rush.

Saiprabhu B — Google review

We did the 3 Dunes Challenge on a cool, rainy morning. It was just a mist rain, but it kept us cool! The paths are well defined and in certain places, steep. The sand is soft, so when you take a step forward, you slide back a little because it's so soft. It is challenging but definitely doable! We are not the most fit people. We walk a lot, but being from Florida, we do not have a lot of hills or sand (except on the beaches!). It took us about 2 hours.

Went to watch the Solar Eclipse on the beach! The park is beautiful. It is huge! Plenty of hiking trails! The beach is huge and gorgeous. There were staff members walking around cleaning up the beach while we were there! The building is beautiful and well kept they have a little food shop in it but was not quite open for the season. The nature center was very nice, also clean. Has regular bathrooms in it. They do have several events going in and that is posted in various spots throughout the park. They were having an Eclipse event with friends if the Indiana Dunes selling “solar” related snacks and drinks! See pictures for details…so cute! Smokey the bear was walking around for picture opportunities. There is a regular bathroom on the beach as well, it is clean and well maintained but it is a single use stall.Prices vary to get in for the day…to walk or bike in it was $2 per personPer car was $12And there were camping prices, bus prices and can prices too. Website is very helpful! We will definitely be going there again!

Very large park on Lake Michigan. The line to get into the park was extremely long but the beach area and lake itself was just beautiful and refreshing. Only one toilet available at the beach and the line for it was massive as well. You can’t drive much around this park either like the others but it has lots of trails for hiking. It’s a good spot to go if you live nearby and don’t want to drive 16+ hours to the ocean.

Absolutely beautiful park with many trails through the forest and over the dunes.Beautiful nature center with clean bathrooms and a water bottle filling station. We came in July and were glad we carried bug spray. The wooded trails had lots of biting flies and mosquitoes but the spray worked great.Park by the nature center to hike the three dunes challenge. Entrance into state park is $12 for out of state cars.Best to hike with sandals. Parts of the trail are deep sand and steep incline. There are plenty of places to stop and catch you breath. Beautiful and peaceful location.

My experience at Indiana Dunes State Park was truly incredible. The hiking trails were stunning, accommodating hikers of all levels. I was captivated by the breathtaking views of Lake Michigan and the beautiful forests along the trails. The park's diverse flora and fauna added an extra element of excitement to my hikes. The sandy beaches were perfect for relaxation, swimming, and enjoying thrilling water sports like kayaking and paddleboarding. The sunsets over the lake were truly mesmerizing, creating a serene and romantic atmosphere. Indiana Dunes State Park provided me with an unforgettable experience, combining amazing hiking adventures with the sheer beauty of Lake Michigan.

Thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Indiana Dunes State Park in the beginning of July 2023.July was the perfect time to visit as it's not too hot up north in July. We started on the 3-Dunes Challenge, where we ascended three dunes with quite the incline. Even in sand, it was not very difficult. I had never been on a trail like that- sand made up the trail, but the area was wooded like any trail I've been on in the Midwest. At the bottom of Mt. Holden (I think) is a private-ish lakeshore of Lake Michigan. This view is breathtaking- clear waters, a rocky shoreline that smooths out into soft, nearly white sand, and chilled water. Swimming is not permitted in this location because there is no lifeguard, but a short walk from there is the main beach where swimming is permitted. Coming from Southern Illinois, this cool freshwater retreat in 80-degree weather was quite refreshing. The national and state park lines were a little difficult to distinguish, we spent time in both. The visitor centers deeper into the park were awesome! Very informative, interesting samples of native wildlife, clean bathrooms, and complete with hiking challenges with rewards.

Gorgeous park! The dunes are definitely the prize of the park, and the views are absolutely breathtaking! There are nice, fairly well maintained trails all over the park that lead to the 3 peaks, as well as the beach, and around the campgrounds. The trail markers are very helpful. I'm a beginner hiker, but I was able to do the #3DuneChallenge in the limited time I had there! I definitely recommend hiking the trails here! The views are definitely worth the toil!

My favorite place so close to home. 3rd largest body of fresh water in the world. Simply amazing views and crowded during peak weekends, so go on a Wednesday and enjoy sunrise, shaded trails and golden sunsets over Lake Michigan shoreline.

The Dunes, as we affectionately call them, really proved themselves today. If you haven’t visited in the winter, you must. Lake Michigan and the sand dunes are majestic in the wintertime. The bonus of no gate admission was a welcome treat. Although the building near the beach is under construction, the public restroom was available. The new landscaping and building improvements are incredible. It’s hard to believe that it’s the same place!

This may be my favorite state park ever...and I've been to a LOT of state parks. It is clean, beautiful, well-maintained and set up very nicely. The beach and dunes are stunning, the plants and scenery are breathtaking and the staff is very friendly and helpful. One comment...I am disabled, and the restrooms and showers here are the most handicap- friendly I've ever used. The campsites are level and far enough apart to be comfortable. They only have electric hookups, but there are water-fill stations and dump stations as well. Very pet-friendly also! We stayed here in a Class C motorhome and will definitely come back again! So many things to see and do!

Went to this World Highest Sand Dunes this long weekend. Loved the trails. Indiana Dunes is a delightful destination that beautifully combines natural splendor and recreational opportunities. Located on the southern shores of Lake Michigan, this national park offers a diverse landscape with sandy beaches, towering sand dunes, forests, and wetlands. The beaches are pristine and perfect for relaxation, while the sand dunes provide stunning panoramic views. Hiking trails and biking routes allow for exploration, and the park's commitment to preservation is evident. Whether you're looking for a peaceful escape or outdoor adventures, Indiana Dunes delivers a memorable experience.

The lake area is beautiful and the beach was amazing. The rating is based on the access to the beach was congested, no one was directing traffic and once we were at the gate, there was no discount for elders, disabled or Native Americans. Also the public restroom was not maintained or kept stocked with toilet paper. Also the water had tested positive for ecoli.

We were completely surprised how nice this park is and ended up loving it! The beach is nice sand and well maintained. The hiking trails are well designated and marked. The nature center was full of interesting information regarding the local ecosystem.Parking at the beach can fill up quick on the weekends, best to go early.Camping books up quick, but you can keep checking online for cancellations. We can't wait to come back!

Well worth the $12 admission fee, this state park had it all! We started on the beach, traversed through a forest, and ended in a gorgeous marsh. Would have been even better if the restaurant was open. Also note that there is only one bathroom open in the winter so plan accordingly.

Amanda Kilroe — Google review

My husband and I stayed in a 26ft Class C RV at the campground. The site itself was nice. The lot was paved and level. The site contained a fire ring and park bench. The campground amenities were nothing special. The bathrooms were in rough shape. The maps provided were pretty unhelpful, especially for hiking trails. The campground, as well as the state park, is seriously lacking in directional signs. We tried to take loop 4 to 8 and had to turn around numerous times. There was little to no signage and the trails listed on the provided maps, as well as apps like All Trails, were not accurate or up-to-date. We’re not sure if perhaps the trail availability changes with preservation/maintenance schedules? Regardless, the dunes themselves are awesome. The sand is beautiful and the views are incredible. It was also super remote/not very populated in October when we visited.

Indiana Dunes National Park is a sprawling area that includes hotels, restaurants, and 15 miles of shoreline perfect for swimming, hiking, and bird-watching. The park is well-maintained with ample trails to explore; however, it's important to stick to designated paths as cameras monitor the fragile environment. Visitors should also be mindful of bathroom locations and their schedules. The West Beach offers stunning views of the Chicago skyline but be prepared for sandy shoes and strong Lake Michigan winds.

The park itself was nice and clean. It is definitely an "urban" National Park. Being a family that lives 40 miles from Lake Erie and has spent a lot of time there, on various parts of its coast, Lake Michigan was so much nicer and appeared cleaner. We stayed a few hours and enjoyed the change of scenery from the Utah deserts we came from. We try to hike at least one trail at every National Park and we hiked the Dune Succession Trail here, which had over 200 steps and went through forest-like parts of the park. Kind of surprising it was more than just a beach park. It changed elevation often. At it highest points, you can see all the huge sand dunes and Lake Michigan. When you aren't on a boardwalk or steps, the trail is deep, dry sand which makes it difficult to hike on. Definitely a work out fighting that sand!Lastly, they do not take the National Park Pass, you have to pay that entrance fee. Keep that in mind when you come here as well.

Wow! What a beautiful park. I went just before sundown to hike and catch the sunset on the beach. Then as I was exiting I saw the full moon rise as well — such a treat! There were quite a few people there to witness the sunset when I was there and it’s understandable why. Lovely colors and view of Chicago on the horizon. The dunes were gorgeous as well. I truly enjoyed the hike to the beach and around. There are a lot of stairs, both up and down, whichever direction you decide to complete the loop, but worth the views if stairs would typically deter you. So grateful to have seen this area and had the chance to explore.

I really enjoyed my time here. I know there’s some controversy around does it “deserve” the NP status; and that’s up for debate, but I will say it was very beautiful and a very unique experience that I don’t at all regret going to. The cowles bog trail in particular really stood out, but the whole park has a lot to offer.

Jeremy Lesser — Google review

We stayed at the campground, which was very nice. This was our 10th year here in a row and always have a very relaxing time. Can see Chicago about every nite, but in the last 2 days, the beach was closed due to 3-5' waves. The beach is within walking distance from the campground, and the 3 dunes challenge was fun. Be sure to check out the boardwalk view from the walking trails in the marsh. Lots of wildlife there.

I was in absolute awe over the beauty of the dunes. I loved my entire experience, especially seeing Great Lake Michigan. I think everyone should visit the dunes at least once in their life. A beautiful place on a beautiful day is medicine for the soul.

Lauren Horn — Google review

It’s my first time visiting and it was definitely worth it. This park is huge and has very well managed trails. You will get sand in your shoes and the wind off Lake Michigan can be strong. The view was clear enough at the West Beach we could see the Chicago skyline. Just double check where the bathrooms are located and make sure they are open, hard to enjoy a hike if you have to go and you’ve seen signs letting you know there’s cameras keeping watch to make sure people don’t go off trail and damage the delicate environment.

Sunday Morrow — Google review

I decided to go here because of the close proximity to Chicago and because it’s another national park off the list.I would recommend stopping at the visitor center and grabbing a map and a pass $25. (I got lost at first and I believe if I didn’t get a map the park would’ve been mediocre.)After that, I would head to West Beach and explore the dunes etc. around there. Then I would continue down the highway/shore and stop at every significant location marked. Around dinner time I would stop in Michigan City, which is about ten minutes outside the park. The city offers so many food options and you can see the lighthouse there. After dinner head back in to one of the beaches to witness the sunset. West Beach allows views of the Chicago skyline.I would say this park offers amazing views of unique ecosystems and nature. However, I thought the views of human pollution and human industry took away from some of the delight (there was a steel mill and coal smoke stack visible all times). The hikes were challenging and also prepare for sand everywhere. The beaches were clean and the water was clear too. Please be careful as the park takes you into Gary and some places are not safe.Overall, this park was a nice day visit for me. The park satisfied my thirst for nature and beautiful scenery. I would come back again for a day trip that’s about it.

Fun that there's a beach with sand in the middle of the country! At the end of June the water was uncomfortably cold but would be great with a wetsuit. The sand is awesome but there's a line of rocks at the edge of the water. We enjoyed paddle boarding and playing games in the sand. Beautiful view!

Marshall B — Google review

A much less remote national park than most. It gets a lot of casual visitors from people wanting to visit the lake. It also have some hikes and informational signs for those looking for a more typical national park experience. When visiting, wear shoes that you are prepared to get full of sand as much of the hiking is on Dunes with very fine sand.

From the hike through the peaceful forest, to the stunning dunes and calm blue waters... I've traveled the world, and this is still one of my favorite beaches. I love it best out of season when there are no noisy jet skis zipping back and forth.

Very busy place but fantastic! Multiple places to stop and see beautiful scenery. Lots of hiking trails with varying difficulties, along with handicapped accessible ones. Expect crowds and the visitor center (and gift shop) and West Beach, but once outside, there's room to spread out and relax! Staff is very well trained and knowledgeable...a must see!

Visiting Indiana Dunes National Park offers a wonderful opportunity to explore the beauty of the Great Lakes region. The park’s stunning landscapes, diverse ecosystems, and recreational activities make it a must-visit destination for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts. However, it’s unfortunate to hear about your negative experience with park rangers at the visitor center. It’s crucial for park staff to provide friendly and helpful assistance to visitors, and it’s disappointing when that expectation isn’t met.Despite the disappointing encounter at the visitor center, I hope your overall experience at Indiana Dunes National Park was still enjoyable. The park’s sandy beaches, rolling dunes, hiking trails, and birdwatching opportunities are worth exploring and can leave a positive and lasting impression. If you have any specific feedback or concerns about your experience with the park ranger, it’s recommended to reach out to the park’s management or administration. Your feedback can help improve visitor experiences and ensure that others have a more positive interaction during their visit to Indiana Dunes National Park.

Great beaches and dunes. Free if you have the National Parks pass. Need to display it on the dash. We went to the Chellberg farm but most of the animals were not there. The West beach was amazing. Water still very cold for a swim but you can easily spend 4 -5 hours.

Thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Indiana Dunes National Park in the beginning of July 2023. Our first stop was the visitor center to learn a bit before entering the park. I stamped my National Parks passport, snapped our group's picture at the sign, and briefed ourselves on the history and existence of the park.July was the perfect time to visit as it's not too hot up north in July.

Indiana Dunes National Park, a hidden gem in the Midwest, is a testament to nature's artistry. This park, nestled along the shores of Lake Michigan, boasts a remarkable diversity of landscapes that left me awestruck. As I explored the park's trails, I encountered the unexpected sight of prickly pear cacti thriving in a region far removed from their typical habitat. Their resilient presence added a unique charm to the landscape. Alongside these desert-like surprises, the forested areas unveiled a world of captivating mushrooms, showcasing the intricate beauty of the fungi kingdom. It was like stepping into a fairy tale. The crowning glory of this park, however, lies in its breathtaking ocean views. Gazing out over Lake Michigan, I was transported to a coastal paradise. The shimmering waters stretched as far as the eye could see, creating a sense of tranquility and wonder.

A fun time in the sun! Some moderate hiking trails. Walking for a long time in the sand is a challenge. Well worth it. Be prepared that it gets very busy later in the afternoon. Good luck with parking if you arrive later in the day.

It was cold and raining on the day that I went, but I still enjoyed everything. The dunes were very cool to see, and I honestly didn't know America had sand dunes at all. It's a bit of a walk from the main spot to Lake Michigan, but that's not a problem at all. The lake was very pretty even if it was grey and raining and I had fun skipping a couple rocks and walking alone the shore.

Awesome park to see even in the off season. There's tons of trails to hike and you get a bit of a drifferent view depending on where you go. Don't forget to check out the houses from the 1933 world's fair.

Kristal Crowe — Google review

I can't believe this is a national park. There is nothing to see here. it's just another place to go to the beach with a hike over a slightly big sand dune covered in trees. The coolest thing to see there was the steel mill next to the park.

Sam Davies — Google review

First time being there and I didn’t get to explore entire location but we were at the beach facing side, hiking. Friends had dogs and they loved it. Has lots of beautiful spots to experience. We went in November and it was not too cold. There are restrooms available.

Awesome lakefront park and beach! Porter beach area (south) had lots of parking, restrooms, and a grille and vending area. Line to enter can get long! The Beverly Shores beach area (north) has less parking and amenities, perhaps less busy. Both are dog friendly.

What a wonderful place to visit! I found this place through the reciprocal admissions member benefit from another arboretum. My family enjoyed everything we saw there. The facilities were well maintained and the botanicals were well marked. The Railway Garden was an impressive and impeccably landscaped historical journey through history. This place is a treasure!

Keep up the great work and save our wetlands!!!!

This is a beautiful park! It does cost to get in and it IS per person which I think really stinks and needs to change to PAY PER CAR because it can get really pricey just for a park... my husband and I took our kids and they enjoyed it.*note: the train display is outside, avoid going on a hot day because it can become dreadful **

We are frequent visitors of Taltree. My family visits at least twice a year and we have been going for the past ten years. Taltree is a beautiful place to visit nearly year round. Whether hiking the trails in the summer, seeing the new blooms in the spring, or attending a wedding in the fall, it is one of the most beautiful places to visit in our area. My kids enjoy the train garden and hiking to the ponds. It is also our favorite place to take our family pictures. We're also pleased that the arboretum has been hosting more and more fun events over the past few years. Take advantage of this hidden gem in Valpo.

A fantastic experience. It's always clean, organized and well staffed. This is a great place to get something for a holiday or small gift as much as just a sweet treat. Great place to bring kids. As someone with a child with a food allergy, it was great to find the staff well informed about what ingredients were in which products. They always have tons of "oops" gummies that are heavily discounted as well. A local gem!

Such a fun place to be a kid again. All kinds of candy from when I remember when I was a little girl. Chocolate covered gummy bears and every kind of chocolate covered berry and nut. Peanut butter cups are amazing!!

Tiffany Arnold — Google review

It was a sad day. The candy was great and there was a lot of it however years ago you used to be able to come here and do a self tour to see how the candy was made. It was great for the kids. They should bring that back. Now it's more of a tourist destination just packed with a bunch of candy and moving people as fast as possible. Good business for them. But they lost a little bit of what made it special.

It is so hard to control yourself here. There is so much to choose from. Everything looks so good. Everyone was so helpful and kind. Thankfully I didn't lose control. Be sure to check out the oopsies. They are 10 bucks for a 5 pound bag.

Welcome to Candy Land! You will be a kid in a candy store - making this a do not miss! Packaged candy and chocolates greet you upon entrance, and then you see THE MASSIVE CANDY COUNTER! Windows are cut out behind the candy counter, so you can actually see the candy factory at work. Lines move relatively fast at checkout - peruse the discontinued/discounted bins as you make your way through the checkout for some real candy/chocolate gems. Fun place to visit for any and all ages!

This was a very cute shop, and it was fun to be able to see the factory behind it through the windows inside! It didn't seem like there were a ton of outlet prices, but there were a few and the ones that were there were good!! A very fun stop! (Also, the seasonal decorations are phenomenal - major props to the decorating team!)

While the price of each item is already reasonable, make sure to take a peek at their "goof-up" section for some sweet deals. It's a great way to find some unexpected gems at even lower prices. Trust me, this is the perfect place to satisfy your sweet tooth and stock up on some treats to share with your loved ones.

Amazing selection of high quality candy. Staff is friendly and helpful while being quick to serve people. The store is bright and clean. The location is pretty easy to get to but getting back out of the parking lot on busy days can be difficult.

We are a medium sized business we ordered around 10,000 pounds of gummy bears and many of the boxes were defective. After numerous of emails and tons of photo evidence of defective product they told us to get lost. So I’m sharing my experience so you don’t have same issue. They claim you only have 10 days claim defective orders. It’s impossible to filter 10,000 pound of gummy bears in 10 days. Photos attached.

This is a little slice of candy and chocolate paradise. It is totally worth the detour if your are traveling between Chicago, Indianapolis, and/or Detroit. There was ample parking and every single thing there tastes great, although I am partial to the chocolate-covered nuts. In particular, the pecans covered with dark chocolate infused with Grand Marnier liqueur are just mind blowing. My companions, on the other hand, swear that the gummy bears are simply the best. Prices are very, very reasonable considering the quality. The only warning is to try to go slow once you have about one pound of chocolate with you...

Managed by Caesars Entertainment, it employs over 2,200 people and boasts a riverboat-style design from 2008. The large gaming floor holds over 300 video poker machines, 700 new slot games, sportsbook betting options and various table games. Other than dry cleaning my pockets, I had fun here. Would have been nice if the slot machines weren't incredibly tight like a duck's butt in water lol. Clean well laid out and very organized. Unfortunately the buffet closed awhile back, but there are a few options on the main level. Too much room dedicated to the sports book lounge that could have had slot machines in them. This limited some gaming options.

There really isn’t a reason to play here. Drink prices are much more than other casinos in the metro. Most food options are not open and Caesar’s properties will soon sell this location so your points will not carry over.

Horseshoe is my favorite casino! I’m not much of a gambler, but once in a while I like to come here. The drinks from the bar are wonderful! My favorite is the margarita from the bar in the back. They also have a good selection of food and their pizza is great!

As much money as I have spent this year at the Horseshoe they ought to let me win a few jackpots, lol. Other than that I love the Horseshoe. The staff is nice. They have new slot machines. They just need different food. It gets very boring eating the same thing over again. I love to eat a good meal on Sundays if I'm at the horseshoe. The buffet needs to reopen and they just need to have the food covered this time. They had the best buffet to me. There was this one particular slot attendant tho who was very rude to a guest. I was standing right there. The slot attendant didn't have a smile on her face or anything and that made me uncomfortable and she wasn't even there to help me. She was there to help the other guest.

I'm a seven star member and the horse doesn't make you feel like one. It is impossible to get ahold of the reward desk. Every time I call , no one picks up or they hang up on me. At this point I weather send my money at the HardRock casino. There's a pretty good chance I will not return back to horseshoe.

My recent visit to Horseshoe Hammond Casino was focused on the venue's entertainment aspect, rather than its gaming offerings. The performance venue struck a unique balance between size and intimacy, capable of hosting well-known performers while maintaining an intimate atmosphere that amplified the live show experience. One point to note for future visitors is the venue's valet parking policy. We were surprised to find a $50 CASH ONLY valet fee. Thankfully, we noticed this ahead of time. It's a detail that those planning a trip here might want to keep in mind, particularly if they're attending a popular event.Inside, the venue featured two bars in the lobby, providing easy access to refreshments before the show or during intermissions. Although a couple of bars inside the concert hall were closed during my visit, the availability of beverages was not an issue. The seats were comfortable, equipped with cupholders for convenience—an appreciated detail that added to the overall enjoyment of the show.I didn't need to use the restrooms during my visit, so I can't comment on their availability or cleanliness. However, given the overall well-maintained state of the venue, I would assume these facilities follow suit.In conclusion, the Horseshoe Hammond Casino is more than just a gaming experience. Its entertainment venue, with its substantial size yet intimate feel, is a noteworthy destination for live performances. Whether you're a fan of big-name artists or local talents, this venue, with its comfortable setting and distinct attention to detail, provides an enjoyable setting for an evening of entertainment. Just remember your cash if you plan to use the valet service!

This isn't like the location I've visited in Maryland. The customer service was excellent. However, It's dark and not welcoming. The machines are old, and I'm praying my bank debit card is okay because their ATM machines were malfunctioning, multiple ones. I was so excited to visit this casino based on my visit to the other. It was quite disappointing. My party left and we went to Hard Rock Casino. We didn't win big, but it's brighter, it has newer machines, and the energy is far more exciting.

Da Cali Dream & Nice Fantasy — Google review

Decadent enough casino. No different that all the others. Sometimes you win. Most times you lose. The cigarette some is terrible. None of the popular games are in the smoke free area. Indiana needs to go smoke free. I don't understand why cashing out at a kiosk they force you to donate your change.Other casinos give you the option. Like they don't rip you off enough now they won't give you your change. Please change that.

I don't go often, but I do like going on a Saturday between 2pm-4pm. It's not as busy, an older crowd (my people). I went in with a winning ticket that I didn't cash from 12/30/23. I inserted it into the slots. The machine rejected it, but it got stuck when coming out. I had to call for service. The young lady retrieved it, looked at it, and told me to cash it in at the cage. Took it to the cage, Brandi (short blond hair) looked at it and told me, "This is no good, you only have 90 days to use." I told her to look at the 12/30 date at the bottom and that it was still good. She got quiet, keyed in some information, and replied, "barely." She then gave me my money. I thought to myself, don't let the grey hair fool you, I work with dates and numbers all day every day. I pay attention to that. I thought to myself, is this her scam? Does she tell Seniors their tickets are no good and keep them for herself? I didn't get a good vibe from her. Well, that's just me.

We go here often since majestic closed. Used to love going here just for the buffet but that’s closed. Honestly the food is below average and horrible quality for the price. Tried the pizza it was cold. Tried the hot dogs they were cold. So play and eat before you get here it’s a waste of money

Kendra Roper — Google review

The casino was average, I enjoyed myself especially the self serve beverage stations.I did see a lot of people having trouble with and complaining about the ATM and change machines not working, that's why I bring my own change. I'm sure people have other complaints if inconvience cleanlines and not getting comp's but I've been to much worse places.

This has always been my favorite place to just go by myself and have some me time. This place has gotten to be awful. You push for slot service and it takes forever and their excuse is always we're short staffed. I played on yesterday, I won't say how much(but oh boy), I left with nothing. Don't get me wrong I know it's a gambling place(chance you take) but those machines have gotten awful. I played one of the machines where you get all the spins, the most I got was 120 spins. I was on this machine from 12:30 to 6pm. You can't tell me that makes any sense. I don't want to hear you should have moved around. That was my fourth machine. This casino has gotten terrible with their jackpots. Even the crowd isn't the same anymore. People are always complaining about the machines. That's not good. I think my name is somewhere in their site to not let me win. I have never won over $1000 here, and I can count on one hand for that. I think I need to listen to other people and go somewhere else. You're not going to tell me that I'm wrong that these machines are not fixed in the casino favor a lot more than they use to be. 5 1/2 hours and only the highest number of spins were 120 and then it only paid me $56. Do better Horseshoe! You are losing people, and you can't tell me you're not. Awful...Well, you guys responded with the same response that you given everybody. So, sad that's how you feel about your patrons(visitors/customers). Just give everyone a general response. Thanks

Lisa Feseme — Google review

When I got there a large portion of the slot machines were roped off. Not sure why. It's not always like this. And other day I would give it a five.It was my birthday and I could enjoy sitting at my favorite machines

Ghorjus 1 — Google review

I've been coming here for a few years with friends and family. We always have a great time. Only bring the cash you're willing to lose. The food and drinks are a bit pricey. The atmosphere is great! The people and the staff are friendly. The establishment is nice and clean. Sucks when the machine acts up and you need service it's like a 15 + min wait, but it's understandable they have lots of machines! I love playing roulette! Will continue to come back and recommend it. I definetly recommend checking out Four Winds too it's in Michigan City!

We were at this venue for a concert. There were three lines to get in... the first one to check ID moved mind bogglingly slowly. Second was checking tickets, and third was to get into the concert hall. The 45+ minute delay was such a bummer because we ended up missing most of the opening band, one of the main reasons we were there. After the concert, they weren't letting people walk around to use the elevators to access the parking. Fortunately, someone who worked there relented when we explained that my friend had a broken foot. The parking garage was such a mess, too.. it took about an hour in our car to leave the garage. Honestly, it's one of my least favorite venues to date.

Brewery

Food & Drink

Craft brewery established in 1996 featuring artisan beers, plus an on-site store.

I have only received 3 Floyd's through beer trades and I have always wanted to make the pilgrimage to the brewery. Unfortunately I had a very small window of when I would be in the area and it didn't fall within their normal hours. I called the day before placing my online order and they seriously helped me out. Their accommodation was world class. Amazing product, even more awesome team behind the brand!

T L — Google review

It was once my favorite beer company, mostly because of the tap room/bar. The food was so good. I used to make regular trips here. Since they got rid of the food, i have no reason to go. When i go to a store to buy beer.. there's too many other great options. I know this is a semi local perspective

Mike Scott — Google review

Really enjoy the beer, was excited to go to the facility. When we got there, a lot of it was closed off the person working there told us that the tastings and everything has been shut down for about 4 years, and they are wanting to bring it back. Not really a big font for much.

Brady Snively — Google review

Retail carry out only but it has bottles I have never seen in stores!Love that BA Blot out the Sun!

Arthur Brown — Google review

3 Floyds desperately needs to modify their location description to make it clear that the taproom is NOT OPEN. Myself and some friends biked from Chicago only to find out that it was all for nothing. The trip itself was still fun, and the staff were nice, but it needs to be obvious when someone looks at this listing that they won't be rewarded with a chance to try the beers and food on site. Very disappointing

Ryan Faulkner — Google review

Possibly the best brewery in Indiana. Some of the best stouts I've ever had. Incredible selection and variety. Place plays metal music non-stop, which is fantastic. My only real nitpick is that it's not located closer to .y home. Be sure to check out Dark Lord Day, hard to beat.

Dope Volpe — Google review

Fun to finally get to visit this place. I with they had a tap room or served beer on site. They had a nice gift shop and you could buy carry out. The beer is great, but a bit over-priced relative to the great beer available at other great breweries. You pay for the reputation, but it's a nice splurge once in a while.

billschomer — Google review

Outstanding brewery! The zombie ice is one of the best doubles I’ve tasted! Only negative is that this can terrifies all of the other fridge items!

Dave Bonner — Google review

Great place if you enjoy obnoxiously loud music, poor service and very rude staff. Beer is mediocre and over priced. At least they dumped most of the staff during COVID because it was sooo dangerous🤣. It’s surprising they reopened at all since COVID is so dangerous (according to the owner who makes beer AND is a virologist)and killing everyone….how can they put the workers at risk🤣. However, if I was in government, 3 Floyd’s would get a GOLD STAR for obedience and spreading fear.

Brian McCarrin — Google review

Dark lord day was a blast and restored my faith in humanity. If you're on the fence about coming, just come.

Michael Langenright — Google review

Gumballhead and Enslaved! What more do you need?....Anyways, I've had nothing good experiences with 3 Floyds. Great food & they support great Metal acts! I went to DLD this year and I had an absolute blast! I can't wait until the reopening of pub, I miss it!

Nathan Anderson — Google review

Did a new beer ‘release’ at a local restaurant scheduled for 7-9pm, 3 Floyds brought 48 pint glasses and a pony keg for a 2 hour event. Beer was gone in minutes, which our entire party did not get to try despite getting there at 7pm. Restaurant owner says 3 Floyds ‘always’ conducts releases with such a small amount of product. So 40 people get to try a new beer then it disappears? What’s the point? We won’t be buying 3 Floyds ever again. There are too many options for breweries who gladly would want us to try their new offerings. 3 Floyds is big on hype and low on delivery.

Andrew Elderkin — Google review

Who doesn't love a vinyl record blasting behind the bar with some amazing food and beer? Great atmosphere, but a little pricey. Food is a little eclectic when all you want is something basic. I knocked a star off because they didn't offer a true flight. And with a selection of amazing beers I can't get in NJ I wanted to try many!

Russell Palmer — Google review

3 Floyds has some fantastic beers/drinks and excellent food, some of which are unlike anything I've ever had. Their bourbon barrel aged Moloko is absolutely phenomenal, and their Daytona Stinger mojito sour is... intense (very good, just... intense!). The food is delicious as well, when the restaurant is open, which it is not currently due to covid. We tried the pizza and cheese curds, both with the amazing pickled veggies on them!

Keith Zebell — Google review

Phenomenal spot. Just play by the rules and you'll be fine. They'll tell you the rules in the gift shop. All the food was delicious too! If you're looking to take home beer visit their website for a list of bottles to go and what merch is available . Expect a wait for beer and food because this place is Very popular !

Ja ck — Google review

Eclectic, brewpub that is so many things at once. Interesting ambiance, great beer, and pretty good food. Cheese curds and beef jerky are worth a try, so Is zombie dust if you've never had it. Six packs are at their shop for $10 out the door.

Came here to check out different walking trails and the one that wraps around the lake is absolutely stunning. There were birds everywhere, the flowers were in full blossom and I loved the waterfall when you first enter. Absolutely highly recommend stopping here if you’re a nature junkie like me.

We went to a party there. The party room was beautiful. We also walked around the lake trail. We will go back soon to see how the plants and trees come to life over the summer.

I hiked at Lake Katherine this weekend. It's a Mile around the lake its beginner friendly and they have plenty benches for anyone that needs to sit/rest or take in the view along the trail. I am plus hiker so if your plus and want to start hiking. This is a nice short trail to start out.I really enjoyed the bodies of water in this hike. They had a lake, an active Channel and a small waterfall. The water fall on the hill made me feel like I went to a different state lol. I do recommend getting some snow cleats or spikes for your boots/shoes if you want to hike in winter when there is snow/ice on the ground. It was pretty icy but my friend made it without them on.The trail does seem to have houses around, so part of the trail is not all nature.Trail length: 1 mileParking: YesDog friendly: YesBathrooms: Yes, only saw signs that they are in nature center but was close due to an event. Did not see any porta potties. So if you come here go bathroom before coming.Has designated picnic area: YesStrict or relaxed?: Seems strict. Signs show No Grilling, parties, Picnics, fishing, feeding ducks, biking, or going in the water around the lake area. Sign says you can picnic in the designated picnic area only by the parking area. I haven't lived in Palos for 45 years and I haven't been back until I recently visited Lake Katherine. This is a beautiful nature area with waterfalls and lovely landscaping around the lake. I wish it existed in 1977. But glad Palos Heights developed this area.

Lake Katherine Nature Center is such a beautiful place to visit with kids, friends, and family. They have a picnic table, a butterfly garden, green areas for walk , and birds swimming in the lake. Etc.Go and visit the nature center for kids to learn more about the wildlife.

It is such a great place to go and relax. There is no charge to enter. But donations are always welcome. Only thing you may have to pay for is if you like to go Kayaking. They also have events for kids. Ex. Fishing, gardening, and more.

Desiree Ruiz — Google review

Such a hidden gem if you don't know the area. Perfect for a nice walk with plenty of birds to watch and the fall colors make it even better. The quaint waterfall has always been a highlight. Bring a book for the free lending library box on the trail.

It’s so peaceful and beautiful here you can walk for miles around this water. The waterfall is small, but still beautiful. This is a great place for a picnic in the park with family or friends. Great place to walk and get your miles in. Great place to relax and watch the ducks/ swans. Plenty of benches to sit and relax and enjoy the views and the sounds of nature.

Loni Myles — Google review

This spot along the Cal-Sag Trail is beautiful, relaxing, and educational. The Lake Katherine Trail has many plants, trees, and benches that have been dedicated to residents of the area who have passed on. The plants and trees are labeled to help nature lovers identify what kind they are. A White Oak, Northern Catalpa, and Norway Spruce are just three of the trees that one will find while walking along the winding trail. The winding trail follows Lake Katherine, which happens to be a manmade lake. A wide shallow waterfall feeds water to the artificial lake. Kayaking is permitted on the lake. If that is not your thing, you can sit on a lakeside bench and take in the relaxing sights and sounds of this beautiful suburban oasis.

I had a wonderful time. It was absolutely beautiful and very clean. It was nice going to a nature center that wasn't covered in garbage. A wonderful place to take photos and relax by the water. There's plenty of benches and even designated picnic tables.

Lake Katherine is amazing. My wife and I take our son for walks over there. You can walk around and view nature. They have a monarch butterfly exhibit that's open in the spring/summer that kids will absolutely love. You can go canoeing in the lake and watch the swans which would be a perfect date with that special someone if you're into that kind of things also with amazing views of wildlife, wild plants, a community garden hidden away in the back that people plant and grow veggies and plants for the local pantry. They have a small book library you can borrow from but please take one, give one if you can. Lake Katherine has a great experience and I'm sure anyone would love it..

Live music venue

Concerts & Shows

Live music venue hosting big-name acts in a setting with pavilion & lawn seating for 12,000 people.

Came to see The KISS farewell tour. The staff was so helpful and very well organized. Even with the amount of people that was there, they handled the crowds well. The drinks were a bit pricey but well worth it if you get a mixed drink which was called a "double." The restrooms were always clean and fully stocked, the staff was always very polite. So we were seating in the designated seating part of the concert, they made everyone show them their tickets and this happened at every entrance due to people trying to sneak in to our section. So they handled the seating very well. No one ever took our spots because the staff was always making sure no strays came by. Totally loved my experience here. Kudos to all the staff and specially to KISS for a memorable experience!!

Mary Osorio — Google review

This is an extremely awesome venue! We went to see Back Street Boys but this space is amazing! The stage and its displays were awesome and very dynamic and helped the shows overall feel through and through. The audio was great, the seating was pretty comfortable and there were so many vendors for drinks, snacks, food and suvioneers. While there is a ton of seating in the sheltered area, there was also a tremendous amount of room in the lawn that also had concessions and restrooms.

Nico Kinner — Google review

Getting to the location was simple. The parking coming in and leaving was awful. The people there directing traffic were just standing around and didn't really do anything. The main exception was the people parking the cars.In the amphitheater, security was fairly quick, but again, no real direction about lines until about 5 minutes before the gates openedThe food and bev staff were nice and moved quickly to help everyone. The seats were worth the extra few dollars. Heather did an incredible job helping our box and making sure we had what we needed.I would come back for a concert again, but definitely not arrive early.

Val Glassco*ck — Google review

We have come here numerous times even back when it was the World Music Theater. This place is awesome. We saw some of the best concerts ever here. I was lucky because back in 2006 my band had the opportunity to perform here for Warped Tour. Great spot!

Ed Stojancevich — Google review

This is a fantastic venue!! I grew up attending concerts at Pine Knob in Detroit. This venue is similar in layout but much better! The grass is very well maintained. The walking path between the lawn and pavilion is divided by a barracde so the lawn crowd doesn't spill over to the walking path. Plenty of restrooms and concessions. And the ability to rent a lawn chair is great!! Plus I found the suites a rather awesome addition. I'll certainly have to rent one some day.

Johnathon Clous — Google review

Had an absolute blast in the VIP suites with my family for the concert! The staff was attentive and helpful. The view was amazing and the lounge was perfect for our big group! If you're looking for an amazing group VIP experience, contact Dustin R for your next concert experience!

Great venue! Fairly comfy seats, although cup holders would be great additions. Getting to seating is fairly easy and the slope is gradual enough for even those with handicaps.

Mindy Olsen — Google review

I saw the Let The Bad Times Roll tour featuring The Offspring with Sum 41 and Simple Plan. the show was great but this venue is even better. The venue is really well designed I think in terms of utilizing their space. Parking is spread out well & I don’t think there’s a real need for the premium parking option. There are entrances from both sides. The concessions are nice and there’s plenty to choose from. Everything is pricier nowadays so I’ve accepted that fact but the tipping concept is bit annoying. Getting lawn seats is a great way to go & you’re allowed to bring in your chairs vs renting one which is an option for $10. When the weather agrees, it’s just a great venue to hang back, lay in the grass if ya want to, and listen to some live music.

Mark Sobanski — Google review

Awesome!!! First time here and everything went smooth. Came here for the Luke Bryan, Dylan Scott and Runaway June concert. It was PACKED which was to be expected but there were no issues. The entry process was quick locating seats could’ve been a little better. Once it got dark it was harder to see…especially after knocking back a few of those vodka lemonades EXTRA VODKA lol. The bathrooms were fairly clean and they did have custodian standing by to periodically clean. They have a variety of food and snacks, I got a slice of cheese pizza from connies it was good just not real hot. We parked in premium parking for $40 it was closes to the venue so we didn’t mind. Leaving was a bit of a delay since everyone was leaving at once. Overall my experience was exceptional and I’ll definitely be back for another show!

Jessica — Google review

Awesome outdoor venue to see a wide variety of shows. Pretty standard screening process with metal detector, etc. Backpacks and bags aren’t allowed in but the size of small bags is advertised as smaller than the size of a hand, but is enforced very unevenly. My wife was told she couldn’t bring her cross body small bag in, but the people in front of us had a small backpack purse that was bigger. Anything bigger than that has to be see through. They do allow snacks in clear bags and sealed water bottles/empty reusable bottles in though!Sit on the lawn, there is tons of room and that’s where the fun is at!

Merrell Wood — Google review

Arrive a couple of hours early so you are not waiting super long to get in. Went to see Janet and a lot of people didn't make it because of parking/traffic issues. Arrive sooner to avoid this! I drove 30 mins away, and was sure to leave early because I knew it would be overly crowded. Save your money and park in the general parking as it isn't far of a walk from the arena. I saw no difference in distance. Wait was worth every penny. Leaving was a nightmare, but, I think that's to be expected at any major headliner event.

Isaih — Google review

I just made my 3rd trip to Tinley Park and the Credit Union 1 Amphitheater (formerly the Hollywood Casino Amphitheater), and each time I was pleasantly surprised and impressed with 1) How easy it was to find, and 2) How quickly they get you parked. I always purchase the Premier parking, just the first level of their special parking rates. It gets you to the lots closer to the amphitheater and makes it a very short walk into the amphitheater grounds (never more than about one or two city blocks for me). The last time I went I had a handicapped tag, and was only a few hundred feet from the entrance, even though there were hundreds of other handicapped vehicles. They are very well staffed, and getting in to the venue was very quick, even though I arrived at a peak time. The security checkpoint took very little time, as I read the guidelines ahead of time. Once inside, it is a short walk to the amphitheater itself, and again everything is clearly marked as to which section you need to go to. There was also ample staff to assist. My only problem (and the reason for 4 instead of 5 stars) was the extremely slow food service. I couldn’t see what was taking up so much time, there seemed to be food made ahead and all the registers were staffed. Our cashier said they were learning a new POS system, so that may have been the problem. On a side note: One person in our party was diabetic and having a low insulin reaction, causing her to be nauseated. We wanted a cup that wasn’t clear for her to bring into the concert, in case she needed to vomit and couldn’t get out in time. They would not give us the cup for a nominal fee and instead charged us $5 for the empty cup. Very not cool. As for the concert, it is a great venue for seeing the stage and hearing well from any seat, and easy to get in and out quickly. There is a bar inside, so you don’t need to leave the amphitheater to get a drink, but we did for the restrooms. We had a small issue with a drunk patron harassing us a little, and security handled it quickly, quietly, and effectively. Getting out after the show was very quick, only a slight wait for traffic in the lot, and then plenty of police keeping traffic moving. Very pleased overall!

Tamra Fricke — Google review

Went to see Janet Jackson!!!! Ms. Jackson, if you nasty lolz. I was not missing it. THE TRAFFIC WAS HOR-RI-BLE!!! People, including myself, were literally stuck on the expressway for hours. I was stuck for about 2.5 hrs and had to literally maneuver my way through to make it just in time to see Janet. I missed Ludacris. Some never even made it off the expressway. The traffic and parking controls were very, very unorganized. I really hope don't any more of my favs perform there. Once I got in, it was fine. I had tickets to a private box, so I was cool. Of course, Janet was phenomenal!!!

Went here for the Snoop Dog concert. What an amazing time. The venue had lost of amnenities with prompt service. The environment was safe, and we were able to have a really good time. I'd come back for an event here again.

The Amphitheatre was amazing! It was huge. The show was amazing! Godsmack did not disappoint!!! I was really pleased with the security. The gentleman that was on the stage in front of my seat never stopped scanning the crowd the entire time. I got out in a reasonable amount of time. I will definitely go back!

We loved it! Went to see Jason Bonham's Led Zeppelin Evening and Government Mule's Dark Side of the Mule! Very spacious and the sound was great!! There's huge ceiling fans that help circulation... but the seats did seem pretty close to each other. We had a great time, tho!!

The Janet Jackson concert was everything! She looked amazing and performed for 2 hours. I had a suite box seat. Which I loved. Lots of room for me to dance the whole time. The server lady was very nice. Shec was just happy to be working, and it showed in her personality. She did an amazing job attending to all the people in the suite. You could see the stage and screen were very clear, I got great photos. This seat also came with vip access for 2 hours after the concert. It was nice to let the crowd die down before leaving. Nice that the parking was free. Very organized venue. Met great people and had a ball. The only downside is that one drink was about 30 dollars. Everyone was nice and met so good people. I would return for another show.

Went to Credit Union One Amphitheater for the first time for a concert for Jason Aldean, Mitchell Tenpenny, Cory Kent. Amazing ticket prices, great seats on floor, sound was perfect, venue well kept, parking lot well kept and clean (outside the bathrooms during/after concert which is given with all the people) and not too loud, tons of concessions, quick merchandise lines, friendly helpful staff members, paid parking was a breeze to get into and out of after concert. Will definitely be going back!!

The David Davis Mansion is a well-preserved Victorian house and garden that belonged to a prominent 19th-century family. The mansion showcases period artwork and technology, providing visitors with an opportunity to time-travel back to the early 1800s. The volunteer guide is knowledgeable about the history of the location, which has connections to Lincoln. Special events are held at the mansion throughout the year, such as Christmas celebrations and car shows. While entry is currently free, donations are appreciated.

I had a lovely time walking through this well-preserved mansion. The decor was recreated so nicely, as if the original owner merely stepped out for the day. I felt as though I had time traveled back to the early 19th century. Truly a sight to behold! My volunteer guide was wonderful at relaying information about this location as well. It’s currently free to walk the grounds although a donation is always appreciated. I had a spectacular time envisioning an era long since passed, thank you.

These old houses in Illinois are really a treasure. I especially love the old Architecture and seeing how people used to live. The tour guide was awesome, but the video was a bit on the boring side (and I like this stuff). Overall a very good visit.Plan on about an hour.

Nikol Richards — Google review

I really loved the history of it! Judge Davis had influence and helped president Lincoln! I also learned different information culturally about Christmas decorations and why the Teddy bear was called Teddy bear. It felt warm and nice. Usually mansions feel stuffy and museum like but this was not the case! They took good care of it and I really loved being there! The people that worked there went above and beyond with the tours and information!

A stand-out house museum in excellent condition and mostly original furnishings. The Davis' extensive letter collection affords an intimate look at their lives in the house, which made for a much more interesting tour. Guide was great.

I visited the mansion during their Christmas at the mansions festival. Most of the rooms were decorated for Christmas. There were many trees and other decorations. The mansion is always good. Place to visit throughout the year as they do themed room decorations on a regular basis.

ChatGPT suggested this as a tour to me. Turns out AI is not all bad. Lovely volunteers , who share the history of this estate with great care . Highly recommend taking time out to step back to another era .

Brigitte Ferdinandsen — Google review

Pretty cool place if you’re into old Victorian homes and American history. The volunteers there were all very nice and gave a great tour. Would recommend.Just know that the video and tours start at the top of the hour and there isn’t much to see if you don’t go on the tour since you cannot access the interior of the house without a guide. So really no point to go after hours.

Evan M — Google review

Wonderful experience! Staff is very knowledgeable about the Davis family, the era and the Lincoln connections.

Benji Craig — Google review

Really great (free) tour if you're in the area. I love history so this was nice. It started off with a video about the history of the mansion and then we headed off through the front of the mansion. If you're in the area I'd definitely recommend checking it out.

Park

Miller Park Zoo is a public recreational area that boasts of a lake, pavilion, bandstand and war memorials among other attractions. The zoo is home to various animals including those not commonly found in larger zoos. Unfortunately, some bird enclosures were closed due to the ongoing bird flu outbreak within the county. Nonetheless, visitors can still enjoy watching animal training sessions such as those for otters while learning more about them at the same time.

It was a decent experience. Across from it is Miller park , which has a water splash and a nice play area for the little ones. The kids loved it 😍. The price is very reasonable, this is a smaller zoo so not as many big animals. Staff were friendly and this little zoo looks well kept and was very clean and the restrooms are clean and smelled sanitized. Small zoo, however what they did offer kept my little ones attention😀

Really amazing for a small town! Become a member if you're local! They have otters, snow leopards, wolves, axolotl, snow leopards, red pandas, sakis, alligators, and many other animals. When my daughter was younger, she loved feeding goats an playing in their area, there's a carousel, budgie feeding is fun, the rainforest part is amazing, and they are adding more areas! In the summer they offer free educational programs, we sat through many of those when my daughter was younger, the bring real animals, and kids can touch/pet them, and learn about them in an interactive manner. The gift shop is decent, concessions area is open till 4 and is OK. The playground outside and the splash pad are amazing! So if you're thinking about visiting, this could be a whole day thing, only that you'd need to pack lunch, not many restaurants close by. We still love to visit, my daughter now loves all those things, we're still members, and the zoo provides a really nice are to walk around with small kids and family. Staff are friendly and always ready to answer questions. We attended a birthday party at their community room, so all in all a great resource for families in the area.

Stopped here while on a family road trip, passing through. It was the perfect pit stop for my toddler to enjoy and burn off some energy. Zoo is on the smaller side but that was exactly what we needed with not a lot of time to spare. We spent about an hour to tour the entire zoo. They had an area under construction, so more animals/exhibits in the future. We would definitely come back if we’re in the area in the future.

Visiting from Chicago area for the weekend. Had no idea that Bloomington Normal had an AZA accredited zoo; Was very pleasantly surprised that they did. $6.50 admission plus a small donation was well worth the time we had. Our favorite animals were the flamingos (right when you walk in) and the wallabies in the Wallaby Walkabout. Throughout the zoo I was excited by just how close they let you get to some of the animals. When compared to some of the larger zoos, Miller Park has a smaller selection of animals, but what they did have were well presented in nice enclosures that you could get close to. After this visit I might prefer smaller accredited zoos such as this to the larger ones. But regardless, this is a great zoo absolutely worth visiting next time you're in the area or passing through and want a fun 1-2 hour experience! We'll be back soon!

We are SO GLAD we stopped by here. We had some other plans in Bloomington and coming to this wonderful zoo was a great way to spend the morning. The animals seemed healthy and happy and there were some areas where the animals were able to roam freely (Australian section and birds in the tropical section). We will be back and are looking forward to the new exhibit (I think South American animals?) under construction. It was a small and intimate zoo but it was extremely high quality.Did I mention RED PANDAS?

Drew Tschirki — Google review

A small zoo with genuinely happy and pleasant staff. Nice opportunities to get up close with the animals and interact at times. There's a petting zoo where you can feed the goats. There is a Carousel and simulated hurricane experience inside the zoo. There is also a very large playground right next to the zoo. It shares the same parking lot. Miller Park zoo is definitely worth going to and experiencing. We will be back. My children's ages ranged from 1 to 11. Everyone had fun: even the adults.

went to the zoo with a couple of friends and their kid it was really neat to see some animals you wouldn't see at a bigger zoo only thing i wish is that the bird enclosures hadn't been closed due to the bird flu going on in the county but i understand that it was for the safety of the animals was fun to learn about the otters as they trained and fed them

Beautifully well maintained zoo. While in the Wallabe enclosure we got to see one jump one end to the other! All the Kookaburras laughed at same time & Pink co*ckatoo said Hi & giggled. The large tortoises walked a bit. The red panda beautiful. The Sumatran Tiger we watched for a half an hour so majestic. So many endangered species to see here. We will be back!!!

Jennifer Munoz — Google review

A very nice little zoo with a lot to see really up close and personal. Took us about 90 minutes to see it all but we didn't do the petting zoo portion. There's also a big playground right outside in the same parking lot. If you're driving by on the interstate and need a fun pit stop, this is perfect.

Our first time visiting was in Father’s Day 2023.A great time for all of us. 8 people in total. Gram & Gramp, 2 adult sons with their loved ones and 2 babies. Age range 62 - newborn. Fun for everyone. A great way for families to spend time enjoying zoo and celebrating the Dads.

VERY IMPRESSED with the Miller Park Zoo. Admission tickets were I think $7 or $8 bucks. Wife and myself both had a zoo date for under $20. The animals and zoo scenery were above expectations coming from a smaller zoo. I come from chicago where brookfield zoo tickets are like $50. The turtle exhibit was so fun to watch. The walking paths were very well kept and gets very close to the animals.Check out this little gemHighly recommendCheers!

Mark Stromberg — Google review

5 star Zoo, the only "issue" I had was they wouldn't allow me to bare chest box the gorilla. The staff politely led me to the gift shop where they told me I could buy a stuffy and fight it at home. Will definitely return later this summer.

Nate Blankenship — Google review

My son's favorite zoo of all time and he has been to zoos from coast to coast and everywhere in-between. He loved the rare tiger, the real tree in the snow leopard exhibit, the anteater, and the axolata.

Richard Lahr — Google review

I had such a good time here! I think this zoo is the perfect size, everything is super close together so you don't have to walk forever to get to a specific section. For a zoo on the smaller side, I didn't expect it to have such cool animals, but there were red pandas, flamingos, otters, a tiger, and so many others! You can get super close to some of the animals because the fences are right where they hang out in their areas. We got to pet a goat (it might have been a different animal, I'm not sure) because it came right up to the fence at the petting zoo.I'd say we waited between 3 and 5 minutes, only because there were a few families in front of us, but it took less than a minute when it was our turn.Overall, it was a great experience and I definitely recommend going there if you are passing through or just looking for something to do for an hour or two.

Zoo

Zoos & Aquariums

Peoria Zoo is an impressive park that boasts over 100 species from around the world, including some that are endangered. Visitors can enjoy feeding giraffes and exploring African installations. Although tickets may be slightly expensive, the overall experience is worth it. One of the main highlights of the zoo is the wooden bridge which provides access to a fantastic vantage point for viewing giraffes. Another exciting attraction is the lion viewpoint where visitors can hear the roar of these majestic animals.

I've been to this zoo 4 times. It has 4 sections; combined it took us about 90 minutes. All the animals are up close. The entire zoo has a balance of sun and shade. Quite a few animals for a small zoo. Very stroller friendly; ramps instead of stairs. The 3 sections are:1.) "the original section" which is a building that has monkeys, foxes and an outside area with a barn with goats and donkeys and a conservation center2.) an Asian section which has a handful of exhibits with animals like tigers and takins, and a small building with snakes and bats3.) an African section which takes up almost half the area with big enclosures for rhinos, zebras, and the like4.) an Australian walkaboutZoo is very clean, well-maintained - and can do as much or as little as you like. And.. there's a children's museum within walking distance as well!

Dave Cameron — Google review

Nice smaller zoo. My fiance was very happy with the three giraffes. It was very quiet with not many people, but it was Monday afternoon. This was actually a plus for us since it seemed more intimate without a bunch of people.

Kelly Carver — Google review

Terribly disappointed. The whole reason I went there was to see a naked mole rat which was featured on the website.( the only other zoo with naked mole rat is Bronx). There is major construction there, you can see like 3 animals in total. But weather was nice and walking through the zoo was nice, hence 2 stars.

Monika Prost — Google review

Overall experience is awesome. Tickets are little pricey but still we can visit this one. The setup is quite nice, particularly the wooden bridge which gives access to giraffe viewpoint are wonderful. Lion viewpoint is quite adventurous, the lion is indeed roaring and rocking here.

Small zoo but nicely arranged. Plenty to look at and enjoy. The animals all seem to be well taken care of and staff are all nice and knowledgeable.

H Simon — Google review

We love our zoo!My kids are 3 and 4, and we have so much fun when we go.Not everything is open yet this year and we still spent an hour and half looking at the different animals.(4/21)I would recommend the family pass if you live close by.It can be crowded at times, but with the pass we have been really lucky to feel like we had the exhibits to ourselves for a nice amount of time if you go at slow parts of the day.So happy to have a zoo like this close by!

Chris Tapp — Google review

It's a small zoo but the kids enjoyed themselves. They do not have a carousel or train like some other zoos but my kids didn't notice. Can get through the zoo in about an hour, 2 max. Most animals were active when we were there in mid March with temps in 50s. Only animals that were still not in exhibits due to cold were the alligator and tortoise as expected.

Samantha Merten — Google review

Very nice and well kept zoo right in Peoria. All of the exhibits were easy to see in 1 day and there were employees who were able to talk about the animals. Do not sleep on this zoo if you have never been!

Mike McGillivry — Google review

This zoo needs some TLC. We enjoyed it, but it's not as nice as it was when I went in 2008.I love being able to get close to a giraffe. I wish we could have been able to feed it ourselves. I didn't think it was quite worth $5 just to stand closer to it. The Walk About was probably my favorite part. I didn't read the sign and had a big surprise when there was a Wallaby right inside the gate just sitting there 😳😂I thought the exercise trail/QR codes were really cool!

Sherie Loverkamp — Google review

The best small town zoo around. We drove down from the Quad Cities and it was absolutely worth it! We will definitely be coming back again and again. The design is great they definitely took line of sight into consideration because you actually get to see the animals. The Australia walk about is so cool! Being so close to the animals free roaming around is awesome. Feeding the Giraffe is the best! The amount of shade going through the zoo is great! You aren't baking in the sun the whole time you're there, you're actually in the shade most of the time. Their food and drink options are great and they don't cost an arm and a leg like other places. The gift shop is large and has a great selection, again it is very reasonably priced. Just all around a fantastic zoo.The one "bad" thing I do want to say is the walking paths are a little beat up. It was a little difficult pushing a stroller and walking you do have to watch out for potholes and large cracks. There are also some steep inclines that older and disabled might find difficult.

Aaron White — Google review

Africa part of the zoo is good, the rest of the areas are not at all appealing. There is large snake I was surprised with the size of the snake it’s huge. The lion doesn’t have enough room I feel like and over all it’s ok one time thing. The cafeteria hardly has any items on the menu, even those that are on menu weren’t offered as their machine broke.

Sweety N — Google review

Not very many animals. It was an OK zoo. Was it work 12.50? Not really in my opinion. But we did go at the end of March. 🤷‍♂️

Casino

Casinos & Gambling

Casino with slot machines & table games, plus classic hotel rooms, four restaurants & meeting space.

We went there for a girls weekend and had an absolute blast! The rooms have been renovated and are beautiful and spacious. The new Steakhouse was far beyond our expectations, my steak was cooked to perfection and the service was impeccable. Don’t leave without trying the molten lava cake for dessert, the presentation alone is worth the calories. The casino is one of the few left that is actually a boat, which we loved. The staff was warm and engaging, we never had to wait for drinks. It was fun to explore all the floors and check out new games, we all broke even or were ahead by the end of the night.

Laura Daywalt — Google review

It's very quiet. Bring your own wheelchair because there's is two sizes too big. It barely fits in the bathroom and does not fit down half of the aisles in the casino, if you have to try and move any of the chairs they're way too heavy to try and get out of the way. The wait staff is spread too thin. We waited for over 40 minutes for some thing to drink because there was no waiter or anyone behind the bar. I had to ask a cleanup crew to get somebody to get something to drink. Overall we had a lot of fun and there were plenty of sanitizing stations and people cleaning up. I do suggest you go!

Sarah Bush — Google review

What a wonderful and absolutely fantastic hotel and casino. The rooms are very nice, up to date and super clean. The beds are amazing and comfortable. When we checked in the service was simply amazing. Then the casino is off on its own and that's was the best part walking to the casino getting to see the river and its splendid beauty. Definitely one of the best resorts in Illinois.

Dale Box — Google review

Hadn't been there for 20 years and a bit of a disappointment. The walls need painted and it needs a lot of updates and TLC. It used to be really pretty. They have a nice bar outside of the casino area called Tin Lizard. Great service! We ate at William B's Steakhouse. Food was excellent but it's pricey. Service was exceptional too.

Lynn Gay — Google review

I walk in this place it looks fabulous. Plenty of restaurants nice view. River boat casino is a plus. But only giving 4 stays because no complimentary breakfast. I would recommend getting a room at the Hampton Inn across the parking lots of you want to wake up to a nice decent breakfast to go. Both casino are in almost the same distance away from paradise casino.

Jazmine Smooth — Google review

Very disappointed. The lobby was very deceiving compared to the rest of the hotel. It gave a very good first impression, I will admit. Unfortunately, the the rest of the hotel is very dated. The room was nothing to go home and brag about, let alone recommend. The "accent" chairs in the room were covered in stains. The sheer curtains seemed to be slightly propped open, until you look closer and realize they are almost melted open. Which was weird. Bedding felt like we were sleeping in tissue paper, loud and crinkly. Suggest using less starch and perhaps using some softener. Honestly, it felt like we were at The Overlook Hotel and Danny was going to be riding around on his big wheel.

Alyssa Wielgat — Google review

The good: Room appears clean and updated. The cons: First off, the casino is across the parking lot. You have to walk there or wait for a shuttle. Not a hotel casino resort by any means. Also, resort fee. For a place with no space and no attached restaurants or casino. More like a hotel and that’s it. But we paid a resort fee on checkout. The toilet ran all night. There’s a strange fan that you can’t shut off that runs constantly in the bathroom keeping you awake. No microwave in room.Rude front desk who tried to put us in a queen when we reserved a king. When I told her she said well that’s why I ask in case you want a queen. Huh!?!?Won’t stay here ever again. I’d go to the hotel across the parking lot and at least get a free breakfast.

Jennifer Grant — Google review

The rooms were nice, basic and clean. It has a small refrigerator which I like because we stayed for 2 days but it didn't have a microwave which I thought was pretty basic in most places nowadays. There is no restaurant in the hotel, you have to go to the casino to get anything to eat. The coffee area is only available during morning then locked up the rest of the day. It's fine if you're there just to sleep but if you're there for a couple of days and you want the convenience of the things I mentioned close by this may not be the place to stay.

Lori Holsapple — Google review

Went in to try out William B's. For a first time patron, we were not to disappointed. I had read reviews of others before going and was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt on service and food. As a matter of fact the server we got was one who had been praised by others in the reviews. She wasn't bad, but wasn't the best either. We were not a demanding bunch of diners, but we did ask for some things that didn't get delivered. We pretty much let it slide because we were enjoying ourselves, but when someone asks for certain things that will help them enjoy their meal even more, they would really like those items. That aside, I'm not going to dis them over some butter, horseradish and a little steak sauce. Switching gears, my husband and I got the prime rib and I will say, it was excellent! It was juicy and melt in your mouth awesome. I got a side of asparagus and was a little disappointed in just how burnt it was. I don't mind grilled veggies, but please don't burn them. My husband cleaned his plate and was very pleased with his meal. Our guests enjoyed their steaks too, and their only complaint ended up being just a misunderstanding that worked out and they enjoyed their meals too. The waitress was pleasant when she managed to make it over to us and the hostess was the sweetest busser we could of had. Needless to say for the money, the steaks were great, the service was good and the atmosphere was very pleasant and enjoyable. I definitely recommend this place if you're not afraid to dig deep into your pocket for the money. The steaks are well worth it.

Terri Goodnow — Google review

This isn't by any means a 'top casino' for Illinoisans to visit. I remember back when I was young, when it first came to the area (and used to actually cruise the river in those days!)- people LOVED the Par-A-Dice Riverboat Casino. It was fancy, had 5 star dining, and was a really nice place overall.Recently, after moving back to the Peoria area from Chicago, where I'd spent the last decade, I'd decided to visit the Par-A-Dice, and try my luck. The parking lot was not full at all, so I had no trouble getting a close spot. When I walked onto the boat, I could see why. It was nearly empty. And then as I looked around a little more closely, I noticed how dirty and dingy it was in there now, including the staff. I spent a lot of time at Rivers Casino in Des Plaines, Illinois, when I lived up north, and I guess that place had my expectations set too high. The staff was always sharply dressed, clean cut, smiling, and overall looked happy to be there. I can't say the same for the Par-A-Dice though. The slots aren't the loosest I've played, and I can't speak for the table games, but those are better odds anyway. In terms of dining, they have a steakhouse, William B's I believe, but I have not tried it yet. The Tin Lizard is their casual dining, sit down restaurant, and I've ordered from there twice. One time was great, the next not so much. The reason I was disappointed on my second visit was due to the fact that I was trying to use a meal credit that I had, according to the Boyds App. Once the waitress took my order, I sat and waited for about 10 minutes, and when the waitress came back by, I asked her if I could take care of the check, and handed her my players club card. She came back a couple minutes later, saying that it wasn't pulling up the credit. I showed her on the app, from my account, and she acted like she didn't know what to do about it. So then she got her supervisor, who was not only aloof about the whole thing, but arrogant and standoffish to me as well. He claimed that "if the computer didn't pull it up, then it's not there, and there's nothing (he) could do about it." I would have to come back and speak to someone in players services, when they were open. I asked him if this happened often, and he said, "Oh yes!". I couldn't believe that he didn't even care, bother to apologize, or anything. He even went so far as to turn around and walk away from me, once he was 'done' with me! By this point, the food that I'd ordered was done, I was hungry and looking forward to it, so I had to yell across the restaurant at the supervisor to get him to come back so I could pay for my food and leave. That experience was one of the worst I'd ever had in terms of customer service, especially from a so-called 'Supervisor'.The bonuses, free play, and promotions that this casino offers aren't that good anyway, so for them to offer them, and then not follow through on what they say they've given to you, well that's just garbage, and I can give away my money at any number of gambling parlor locations around town, and not have to worry about being treated that way. And I will, next time. When I've got the itch, it won't be to return to Par-A-Dice.

Do NOT stay in this hotel. The photos online are extremely misleading. The lobby is pristine, looks well kept and clean. Once you get to your rooms however you will be disgusted before you even get there. We stayed on the third floor and there is mold EVERYWHERE. At the wall joints, on the ceiling and around the door jams! Even when you get to your room, there is mold and dust just everywhere. The refrigerator rubber was caked with black and green mold. Dust layered on the lamps, furniture and even the alarm clock! To add insult to injury, they use white bedding which looked like either it had been reused (not washed) or they didn't inspect it before placing it on the bed because there were little spatters of what looked like dried BLOOD on my sheets and pillows! As a person with asthma and allergies to mold, I was horrified by such a lack of even basic care and maintenance.Do NOT stay here.

Allison Wheeler — Google review

I was quite disappointed. Very small, very old looking. We wanted to eat dinner but only the deli was open. Did not see too many workers on the floor. The outdoor smoking area was terrible! You would think with the revenue generated they would at least have a room with walls and heat but no, you are outside on deck in the elements. I will spend my money somewhere else. It was 28 degrees.

Christina Abner — Google review

We stayed at the hotel on our way driving across the country. The staff were friendly and accommodating. They have a small fitness center with 4 cardio machines, 4 sets of dumbbells, and 4 resistance machines. Room keys are required to use the elevator, which made us feel very safe in our room. The room itself was huge, very clean, and had excellent temperature control. It was not a 5 star stay for a few reasons, some of which are out of the staff's control. We were awoken around 530 am from the room next door's TV, and the housekeeper did knock on our door around 7:30 am as we were getting ready to leave. She apologized and said she was notified that we had already checked out. There is no complimentary breakfast. The decor is a bit outdated, but they had signs around that they are renovating.Overall, we were definitely satisfied. Although we will most likely not be returning to Peoria anytime soon, we would be happy to stay again.

Sarah Klimek — Google review

The room was ok, just a little dusty from not being used in a while. Great view of the water! The casino isn't connected to the hotel, but it's just a 5 minute walk to it, or there's a shuttle that'll drop you off in front .

My aging mother wanted to go gambling for her birthday. None of us ever gamble. We have been to the boat before for a family gathering, but that was when there was a restaurant. The one thing that I remember from my first time there is that smell. I almost feel like the boat is infested with mold. It's musty. This time, they were covering the smell with some sort of scent. It was pretty overwhelming, but I am really sensitive to smells. Not one single employee greeted us or asked if there was anything they could do for us. It must be a very strict place to work because none of the employees were smiling. The nicest person I met was a lady in the "money cove" when I was cashing out. My favorite was the unhappy co*cktail waitress walking around with zero charisma or personality saying "beverages," over and over, in a monotone. Lol!

Chris Miller — Google review

Stayed one night while traveling. My -only- complaint is that the door to our room didn't properly close - we had to tug it or push it closed ourselves when entering or leaving the room. The facility is clean, it smells good when you walk in and the staff are friendly. The Tin Lizard has good food (huge portions). The casino itself is also clean, well kept and staffed with nice people. We will be back for a longer stay.

Nikki Stiles — Google review

We stayed here for a night on a longer trip. I was so surprised by how clean and spacious the hotel accommodations were. The location right on the river made for beautiful views and the casino boat was modern with good slots and table games!

Tanna Roberts — Google review

We were there for a fundraiser so we did not have a hotel room. The food was pretty good. We weren't expecting a pork crown roast of pork. We wish they allowed our provided take home containers because there was so much left over for many of us.

Room was decent. Bar was closed. Foods across the lot at the casino. Charged $5/night "resort" fee. Didn't have a "resort" vibe at all. Bet that hotel on the other side of the parking lot is better.I'll let ya know when I'm back that way ✌️

Loved this resort....it is absolutely stunning and the staff is so attentive and professional...room was beautiful and bed was very comfortable...the casino is a boat beside the resort and there is a shuttle if you don't want to walk the 5 min. walk over there... excellent restaurants in the casino too...will definitely stay here again if in the area

Okay, so I mostly went here for my boys, ages 3 and 6 years, but ended up entertaining not only myself, but my 10 and 8 year old girls. We got to climb into actual Caterpillar machinery, learn about engines and saw a few of their best marketing campaigns. We enjoyed ourselves.

Nikol Richards — Google review

this place has a cool exhibit, lots of interesting history displayed, and very knowledgeable and kind staff. Norbert, one of the retired CAT employees, was very knowledge in the field and was more than willing to go the extra steps to help us learn about the history of CAT and how it became the company it is today. if we ever were in town again, we would 100% come back and plan of recommending this place to others!

Friday; expert testimonial. Bash proclaims Cat Museum "Awesome"!Saturday; "Grampa, I have a idea... We can go back to the museum."

Doane Brubaker — Google review

A great place to visit if you’re interested in the history of Caterpillar. There are many things too see but the only thing that will catch your eyes is the big mining truck. There are some pretty cool simulators which you can sit on and try using the different controls. The employees working here are retired Cat employees. I was assisted by Skip and Rose. Had a great conversation with both of them. Very kind , sweet and knowledgeable. Thank you.

Karan Pai — Google review

It's great fun for boys ages 1 to 62! This was a fun cousin memory. Kids under 12 are free, and adults are only $7, so it is a very cost-effective family activity.

Brianna Gullett — Google review

If you like to know about Caterpillar history it is a good place to visit. The tour starts with a video about the global footprints and the services the company is doing. When you go downstairs you can witness the 100 year old long history and the company's evolution. They showcased every possible product they produce and there are some simulators in which you can sit and operate, and you can feel the machine operation. There are some CAT merchandise available for sale upstairs.

Mahesh Kumar — Google review

Not only was this place awesome to see, but every single person that worked there was absolutely amazing! They even took the time to teach my young kids how to maneuver the simulation machines and the few vehicles that they could get in. Would definitely recommend going!!

Jenn G — Google review

Very well done and cool museum. After reading some reviews, thought it would be smaller than what it was, but thought it was overall a well done history of the company. Getting to see some equipment on display was fun and then the simulators were cool as well.

Shane Burgess — Google review

Lots of fun for the whole family! There are simulators to try, Cats to hop on and sit in, a seven room engineering museum type thing- and all of the employees are really nice too.

hodelia hayat — Google review

Truly enjoyed watching the bulky tractors and engines. Good place to visit with your family. The staff were so kind. But the clothes at the store were quite expensive.

saleha sultana — Google review

We saw a sign for this place on the highway and visited it on a whim. Street parking is available, which you can pay for easily by phone. It is 7 USD for adults and free for the kids. You enter the cargo area of their mining truck to watch a short video, then take the stairs to the display area. Very clever way to display and get people to appreciate the truck's size. The kids enjoyed the simulator, which lets you practice several pieces of equipment. Much better quality than those simulators you find in other places. I guess these were developed for actual training.

Jaehyup Kim — Google review

It is very cool to see the history of how it started from a small to large truck. The simulation is very great. There is a cinema in a big truck. This museum is worth your time.Only one negative - there don't have to access to offer such subtitles (closed captioning). I hope they can provide them for deaf or people who are in need of it.

Kehinde Ogunbayo — Google review

You start the experience watching a movie in the back of a large mining truck. Then you continue on a self-guided tour of the history of CAT. Kids can climb into various CAT machines. There are interactive experiences to drive CAT bulldozers and excavators. We spent about an hour there.

Lindsey Nelson — Google review

I have swing by at the visitor center aiming to learn more about CAT history and legacy, in special regarding the entrepreneurship across the decades. As supplier it was a honor.

Robertson Souza — Google review

It’s amazing to see the big trucks and know about the history. The simulation is great to try the machines and feel the action.Very well maintained and very well designed with a lot of information

Sam A — Google review

We went right when it opened on a Thursday morning so it wasn't crowded at all . All of the workers are very knowledgeable and very friendly. They have lots of information about caterpillar and like sharing it .Amazing to see the life like replica of the dump truck . It's hugeThe simulators for the heavy equipment are cool as well .

Truly cool roadside attraction! We all loved it and thought it was a very cool photo opportunity. Lincoln, reading a law book, is 12 foot tall and the covered wagon is 24 foot tall. There is a stand nearby with information about how it is the tallest covered wagon in the world. We love roadside attractions and this is a great one just off old Route 66.

Gary — Google review

Not a real wagon, but more of a large yard decoration. If you a near by it is worth stopping to see it, but I would not drive out of your way. My 3 year old really like it, but older kids will not be impressed.

Brandon Bowman — Google review

This is a nice little excursion on a road trip. It is only a few miles off the main road, and you can continue to pick up the highway at the next exit. It is well preserved and clean with plenty of parking. Fun to see things like this and break up the trip and walk around for a minute with really losing a lot of time. Well worth the few minutes it took.

Mister Bond — Google review

Kinda cool looking wagon. Interesting why this was built. Nice little side trip to see it.

Marie Spencer — Google review

The World's Largest Railsplitter Covered Wagon is a landmark right off of Interstate 55. It is a neat attraction, and you only need 5-10 minutes to make a quick stop and snap a few photos. If you like roadside attractions be sure to take some time and see this. If you need a bathroom, the American Legion next door is open to the public and has bathrooms available.

Jason Hill — Google review

It's lost it's cover but it's still huge. You can't climb on it. Technically they call it the world's largest rails platter. I think they should add some ox in front of it so Abe can get moving lol.

Leon Demond — Google review

If you an extra 10 minutes, it’s a fun way to stretch your legs because it’s not too far off the highway. It needs some upkeep and yard work. Fun for the kids to see.

Kristen Whitman — Google review

Most flock to Springfield, IL for Lincoln. This roadside attraction featuring President Lincoln on a wagon is not too far from Springfield. The near by watermelon christening site is worth to visit too.

This is such a neat place to visit if you’re in Lincoln. If you’re traveling Route 66 this is a must see spot. This is the World’s Largest Rail splitter Wagon. Great photo spot. #bucketlist

Cool Roadside attraction along Route 66 in Lincoln Illinois, plenty of parking nearby with a information kiosk in front. Definitely a sight to see if you are in the area.

Darrell Powers — Google review

We stopped to visit the Covered Wagon in the beginning of May, 2023. Unfortunately the wagon has been damaged by high winds. As such the attraction is under construction to repair the damage. You can still see it and take pictures. But it is taped off to keep folks at a distance. At this point, the wagon is on jacks and is missing its left rear wheel. Although Abe is still piloting the wagon. He says hi.

Sponge Bob — Google review

This covered wagon in Lincoln, Illinois, is the largest covered wagon in the world and is located near historic Route 66. The 24 foot tall statue of Abe Lincoln reading a law book is quite impressive to say the least.

Jeremy Schindorff — Google review

Review Date: March 11th, 2014To quote my friend; “It’s not even covered!”Now, to be fair and to preface this blog post, we did stop by after it received some storm damage. So the state it was in when we visited is not a representation of what it actually looks like. The low score is from my initial visit. Should I happen to make it back, I will update the score and post new photos to reflect what it really presents. Looking into it for this blog post, I would rather like to see it in it’s former glory as it looks really cool!Okay, so with all that in mind, my friends and I left Springfield after a day of exploring. On the way home, we saw the sign for this covered wagon. I asked everyone if they wanted to stop and check it out. They didn’t care… so 10 minutes later, we find ourselves looking at the wagon… or the damaged wagon. As stated above, it seemed to have received some storm damage and was in the process of being restored, so it was in really bad shape. But we had some fun taking goofy photos in front of it. It was muddy out, so we couldn’t explore around the area too much. I have visited Lincoln, IL a few times since this photo was taken, so next time I am down there, I hope to have new/better photos of the wagon. It really does look cool from seeing other people’s online photos.Plus, it’s a nod to Illinois and the USA’s history since it has Abraham Lincoln on it.The link to the website provided below is not to the Wagon’s actual website… because it does not have one. But I do like Atlas Obscura, so I linked to their website. That way there is some reference material if you are interested in learning more about the wagon.

Joshua Daily — Google review

Cool photo opportunity, and it's so awesome to see the size and think about it actually having to work to qualify for "world's largest". Very fun little side stop for us!

Sights & Landmarks

The Lincoln Monument Association is an organization that was founded in 1883 to raise money for the construction of a monument to Abraham Lincoln. The monument was eventually built and is now located in Springfield, Illinois.

I visited here when I was a kid on a field trip and found it so interesting I brought my own children back. There was a man when you walk through the door, not a tour guide, I dont think, but he was really polite and helpful. He gave us the overview of where everything was and was really great at answering my kids questions. The tomb itself was really interesting. I found it very interesting that Abraham, Mary, Edward, William, and Tad seemed to be together, and there was an iron grate separating the space of their other son, Robert. Is it done purposely? I wonder if it has anything to do with Robert having Mary declared insane? Who knows, we recommend checking it out either way!

This place just oozes history, thoughtfulness and serenity. A perfect resting place for an amazing President and his family. It is quite the experience to see and walk through. Humbling almost. I didn’t take pictures inside out of respect. Also good not to spoil it sometimes. This is a must visit on your Springfield Lincoln trip.

Eric Sirinsky — Google review

This is wonderful, free spot to pay respect to a powerful president. We arrived at 4:45 right before they closed, so it was a quick, quiet, peaceful visit.

Bonnie Robinson — Google review

Absolutely astonishing to be able to see the tomb of the former president, if you are in Springfield i highly recommend visiting lincoln’s tomb

Jason — Google review

At the Lincoln Monument in Springfield, Il, you can literally touch history. An humbling and awe inspiring experience, a visit to Honest Abe’s final resting place should be on any travelers agenda when rambling through the Land of Lincoln.Friendly and informative staff adds to this free admission experience.

Soghom*on — Google review

Very interesting, well maintained grounds. The architecture was amazing. A wonderful tribute to Abe Lincoln for his final resting place. I didn't realize all he had accomplished in his lifetime.

VSTARBABY ?Vstarbaby? — Google review

The tomb is located in Oak Ridge Cemetery and there's enough signage that you certainly can't miss it. Or just follow the parade of school buses that are bringing and endless number of kids here to see it.That said, you will want to wait until after all the kids have been and gone through the inside. It is underground and there is nothing to break down the echo. I lucked out and arrived during a school bus gap so I mostly had the inside to myself to see the tomb and view the statues of Lincoln inside and read the quotes.I've been to the Lincoln Monument and I've been to Gettysburg. This was definitely worth it for me.

Bruce K. — Google review

Very interesting (and quick) stop if you're a history buff. The memorial and tomb and the grounds are beautiful, well kept and the staff working there are very knowledgeable.

Travis Cannon — Google review

Great monument - enjoy the silence because when kids come it is going to be loud. Unfortunately no respect from the (american) parents to keep their kids quiet. Sad. But the monument itself is very nice!

Jetlover X — Google review

Stopped on our road trip down Route 66 to see President Lincoln burial location. It was a great experience. I would recommend it to everyone.

Preston Plew — Google review

A powerful yet somber experience and tribute to the Great Abe Lincoln. The ground are beautiful, the monument is wonderful, the caretaker was extremely friendly and welcomed us and thanked us for coming and encouraged us to take pictures. Please remember that this is the final resting place of a great President and to respect the grounds, the monument, and his resting place.

Nicholas K — Google review

Finally made it, life long dream to visit! The closest you'll ever be to meeting this once great mind and man.The architecture is amazing. The statues are beautiful and be sure to take the free tour, they explain every detail. It was beautiful and peaceful. Not much of a crowd on this day.Cemetery is very old. Be sure to visit the Accordion King at the entrance and pay your respects. Also there are restrooms which is super convenient.

Jack Nikolson — Google review

Very neat obelisk monument and grave site of one of the greatest Presidents. The grounds were very interesting and well kept. Frisbee golf is decent course. Great trees.

Mac Conley — Google review

We were the only family there, so we didn't have to wait in the queue! This was simply a beautiful and humbling experience. The monument is well built. The first thing you feel is peaceful. Before you enter the tomb, there's a bronze bust of Lincoln. Make sure to rub the nose of the statute for good luck! Once you enter inside the building, you are greeted by the friendly volunteer. The interior design is quite posh- art deco style , and very very clean. There are few statutes, plaques and quotes, and a final resting place of President Lincoln and his wife and 3 children are also buried there. It's free to enter, free parking and there's also a washroom area near the car park. Oh, drop a penny behind the building near the window for another luck!

Museums

Library

The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum is a must-see for history buffs. With an expansive array of exhibits, the center tells the full story of Lincoln's life in unique ways. The multimedia installations and hologram theater make it one of a kind, making it one of the most popular attractions in town.

There's no better place to learn about the life of Abe Lincoln than at this museum.I would recommend it for families or school groups. Personally, the ideal minimum age is probably around 10+ as getting the most out of each exhibit requires patience and reading. My boys are a bit younger and it was tough for them to stay focused till the end.Any weather conditions are fine because the museum is entirely indoors. It was pouring rain during our visit; the staff was kind enough to offer plastic bags to house each of our wet umbrellas.Don't bother bringing food or drinks in. They won't allow them, but if you forget you can rent a locker for a quarter. You should allocate 3-4 hours of time here in order to enjoy each exhibit and both theatre shows.Keep an eye out for the Abe Lincoln impersonator that will occasionally pop out and roam around. He's happy to greet you and discuss anything from his life, including his wrestling career!!You won't regret your visit here.

Corey Mitchell — Google review

This Museum is AWESOME. For everyone who wants to know about Abraham Lincoln's life, I highly recommend it . Mostly, don't miss none of the projection shows. We weren't able to see all due to some technical issues they are having that day and one show was cancelled. All the museum's employees were great. Thank you

Pierra Altesse — Google review

Nice museum about Lincoln.Entry price of $15 is too much.Loved the life sized statues of Lincoln and his family.Presentations were nice and creative, but I wish they had more details about his life and growing up.Cafe closes at 3 pm, I wish they had it open longer. There is street parking but the coin slots were not working. There is a parking garage a block away. The merchandise shop has a lot of unique stuff but is overpriced.

Dr. Ravikiran Barigala — Google review

Made my semi-annual visit to the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum this afternoon and it never seizes to immerse my curiosity and attention. Very cool being able to view an original copy of the Gettysburg Address written in Lincoln's own hand. The two theater shows are both absolutely incredible. Both sections of Lincoln's life are fabulously brought to life. As an historian, I fully appreciate every aspect of this museum and can't wait to return.

Kaleb Huffman — Google review

Really nice museum. It has a ton of stuff to look at, very well presented. You will learn things you never knew. Covers Lincoln’s life from his childhood to his death. There are a couple shows that are worth a watch, too. Kids and history buffs alike will enjoy this.

Hudson Witzig Gomez — Google review

This was such a fun experience! I haven't been here since I came with a field trip. Today I got today take my children through the museum and share those experiences and memories with them. Our kids are 9 and 11 and both found the museum and theatres very entertaining and educational. We really enjoyed how Lincoln is portrayed as a real human with flaws, as opposed to just "the legend". My only critique is the Cafe. There was little to no selection for food ,( I think it was just hot dogs, chilli for dogs, and pulled pork?) Only throwing that in for parents with young kids who are picky. We also visited on a Thursday morning, so that may have played a part? Either way, it was an amazing experience, highly recommend checking this out! There was a traveling experience for you've kids(10 and under), and we didn't check that out since both kids couldn't go in.

Melissa Piliponis — Google review

Went for the first time today and it was wonderful! There is so much to read and learn that I’m sure I missed a lot! The exhibits are wonderfully done, so many beautiful things to see. They have many authentic pieces behind glass and they had 2 amazing short shows today, they were so neat! Definitely not what I thought I was walking into. The staff was very nice, helpful, and informative. I will definitely be back and I’m sure I will find a ton that I missed! I also strongly suggest doing the scavenger hunt they provide, it makes you really look for the information and adds some extra excitement to it! They have an online version or a hard copy!Even the gift shop had a ton of cool stuff!! I couldn’t believe this experience was only $15! A really good price for the education and fun! The staff also informed us a new exhibit will be opening in March, I am excited to go back and see it!

Lakota Page — Google review

I learned so much about Abraham Lincoln at the Museum. It was educational. I was very intrigued by the map that showed the progression of the Civil War, with the names of the battles and how much territory was gained/lost, and how many deaths. I didn’t realize how much heck he got from the press. There is a whole section of cartoons from the newspapers at the time of the elections through the Presidency. I also didn’t know that Booth was a fairly well known actor. This is definitely a must see! We did walk over to the Library too, but to look at the books you need an appointment. But there were a few things displayed around the main floor you could look at.

Jan Bishop — Google review

One of my favorite places to visit in central Illinois. My wife and I carried our 2 grandsons 12 and 8 years old and they loved it. Mitch Adams is our favorite volunteer. He loves Lincoln and sharing knowledge with others about this great museum and library. Well worth the trip.

Tommy Jones — Google review

This is a must do for everyone! The museum covers his life from his childhood to his presidency. You get to walk through a replica of his childhood one room cabin as well as replicas of the White House. The 3D show was great. There is tons of information and relics of the Lincoln family. I highly recommend this for everyone to enjoy!

Mikha’el Cline — Google review

It’s one of the best museum in town. We learn so much and had a one to one guidance with rich information about the president life, from his birth, his childhood, his manhood, his personal learning and self education, his family, his stressful but always forwarding life as a son, husband, father, lawyer and president. I feel impressed for his humbleness in every stage of his life

Jenn James — Google review

This museum was absolutely fantastic!! I was so impressed with the realistic exhibits. It was so informative. Very clean. The technology was amazing. The Ghosts show was just incredible. The people who worked here were kind and knowledgeable. The restaurant was clean. The gift shop was very large with a wide variety of souvenirs from which to choose. We came on a school field trip and had a wonderful time.

Avra Robinson Vandre — Google review

The Abe Lincoln Museum is really remarkable. So many exhibits and each with detailed plaques of information. There is two different theaters which have shows running all day which I highly recommend checking out. The staff is always friendly and helpful and the gift shop is full of unique items. This museum is my go to place just to be reminded of history or anytime I need some inspiration for a paper or book I am working on. I also recommend reading each exhibit and soaking in everything instead of just quickly walking through.

Issac Mcgrew — Google review

Loved it. Have always been a fan of President Lincoln (how could you not be?), but was super cool to see and read about his life and his presidency. In particular, I enjoyed seeing a handwritten copy of the Gettysburg Address! 100% would recommend stopping by when in the area!

Eric Weber — Google review

The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum was surprisingly very interesting. They had a couple of interactive theaters that lasted around 15-17 minutes each. An exhibit of how they thought Abraham was raised. That exhibit has a fun scavanger hunt. They have an exhibit of different presidents and their history. And, of course, the political life of Abraham Lincoln all of the way to his assassination.I would suggest calling ahead if you would like a group tour. Otherwise, you are welcome to walk in and pay. They don't allow food, drink, or gum.I would say to take a good 4 hours here soaking it all in. They do have a gift shop with interesting little things to buy like huckleberry syrup.

Sights & Landmarks

The Abraham Lincoln Home National Historic Site is a house where Abraham Lincoln lived and worked from 1844 to 1861. The house is located in downtown Springfield, Illinois, and visitors can learn about the life of Lincoln as a lawyer, politician and finally as President of the United States during their tours.

The house was very interesting. The tour guide was good. He should definitely go through it at least one time in your life. Just to say you did it. There's so much in this town to look at it definitely will take a couple trips especially if you're doing a weekend adventure. If you're wondering this is a free tour. You do have to ask for tickets and the visiting center.

Jess — Google review

We stopped in here on our national park tour that we do.It was amazing it was very well done. The home is well restored and exactly like it was when Lincoln lived there. The staff at the visitor center was friendly and helpful and helped answer all of our questions. The movie is nice to see and well worth the time

Alan Brown — Google review

Great site to tour. The tour guides were very knowledgeable. The home itself have quite a few period artifacts from the Lincolns personal collection as well as furniture used by the Lincoln family. This is the only home that Mr. Lincoln owned prior to moving to the White House. It is also where his children were born and died as well.It is best to get there early to avoid the large school bus tours that begin to show up as the day progresses. It is definitely worth the stop and visit. And it is free of charge.

Mike Frankel — Google review

It's a great place to visit for all ages. I visited this place during the spring break 2022 with my 5 year old toddler son. If you are going there for the first time, here is the few information:1. Tour to Lincoln's home is free, but it is guided one. It leaves every 30 min, so try to put your name down as soon as you get to the museum2. The parking is free and that is in front of the visitor center. No worries - there is enough parking spot.3. If you are with kid, let your kid participate in the Junior ranger program... it takes only 15-20, but the fun part is they get certificate signed by the ranger and also a Junior ranger badge. This one is free as well.4. Take a walk outside the Lincoln's home on the brick-road. You will feel you have gone 200 years back in time-machine.

Madan Kundu — Google review

This is a must see National Historic Site. You get to walk through Lincoln’s home. See his actual furniture including his writing desk. Also, walk his yard and neighborhood as it was in the 1850’s. It’s all well presented. Storyboards everywhere. The visitor center has a great movie and shop. I came here once before in 1968 for a grade school trip. The National Park Service restored it in the 1980’s so now it’s much better experience than the old days. Go visit Lincoln’s home

RV Traveler — Google review

This was a great little stop on our road trip through Springfield. While you did have to pay for parking if you parked in the lot, which was inexpensive, the rest of it all was free. It was interesting to see and hear about Lincoln’s life and walk through his home. The tour guide was helpful and kind. They shared a plethora of information. Definitely stop by if you find yourself in Springfield.

Denai C — Google review

This is a must do for anyone coming close to Springfield! You get to walk through the only home Abraham Lincoln ever owned! It is furnished with most of his original furniture. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and entertaining. Admission is free, you just have to get tickets before your tour. The parking lot is a pay lot. It was busy today so we got tickets for later in the day. That way we had time to go though the Lincoln presidential library. Which was excellent as well. I highly recommend everyone to come and enjoy this experience!

Mikha’el Cline — Google review

The museum and historic houses encompass a beautifully preserved historic area near the old capital building. Our tour guide was incredibly Insightful and knowledgeable about the site, and she was pretty cute too. You have to get a tour ahead of time in order to see the house but it is free because of Robert Lincoln selling it to the state for $1.. Lots of awesome history here definitely recommend checking it out

What a cool experience! I very much enjoyed visiting here. The old neighborhood is wonderful as well as the visitor information center with s very nice gift shop, movie theater, bathroom & lots of education. Staff was very friendly & helpful. Theres a guest book you can sign. Parking is $2. Tours are free.

Our family was privileged to have a wonderful park ranger lead the tour of Lincoln's home. He was incredibly knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. I didn't realize the entire block is a historic site and many neighboring homes are open as exhibits with artifacts.

Bonnie Robinson — Google review

The Lincoln Home National Historic Site was the first stop on our "Lincoln weekend" in Springfield. While born in Kentucky, Abe Lincoln moved to Illinois while young with his family. The home still stands, although much of it was restored and repaired. They did a fantastic job of finding period-specific furniture and furnishings based on drawings and photos. You start in their welcome center/gift shop. There is a brief presentation before you set out to see the house. It was a rainy day, but we did not let them stop us. The attached photos do the house justice, so I won't go into much more detail about what we saw. I already said I was impressed with the restoration and furnishings. Much of my comments are represented in the photos. This home is only a part of a restored neighborhood of homes. These were the homes of Lincoln's friends and neighbors. Many are open to the public. Because of the weather, we chose to defer this part until our next visit. This is a must-see for Lincoln fans and historians. It was well worth the price of entry (free).

Bob Rosenthal — Google review

This is a fantastic place to visit if you're interested in history. The tour guide is very knowledgeable and really brings the site to life. You'll learn a lot about President Lincoln's life and the historic significance of the site. One of the things that I really enjoyed about the site is how well-maintained it is. The grounds are clean and the buildings are in good shape, which makes for a really pleasant experience. The staff is also incredibly friendly and helpful. They're always happy to answer any questions you might have and make sure you're having a great time. There's plenty to do and see, whether you're interested in history or not. You can take a free guided tour of the site, explore the visitor center, or just wander around and take in the sights. Overall, I would highly recommend the Lincoln Home National Historic Site to anyone looking for a fun and educational experience.

After many years of wanting to visit, I finally made it. Not only President Lincoln's home but a other neighborhood homes are presented to help us recreate what it might have looked like in the 1840-60s. The tour of the Lincoln home is a guided tour by a park ranger so you get to hear interesting back stories that set the context. The house is well preserved, and I heard 60% of everything in there is original.

Really cool. It was around noon and the tours were already full for the day, so go early.Parking is 2$ and can only be paid via credit card. There is a visitors center with gift shop, rest rooms, theater, and water bottle filling station.

Nice Lincoln house in Springfield. It has been preserved in the same way it was during Lincoln times. It's not just his house but the whole street and surrounding houses have been preserved well. The side walk has wooded boards and roads have bricks. I would recommend getting tickets early as we went 1 hour before closing time which is 5 pm and it was booked out. They have a nice gift shop in the information center.

I would diffently recommend going here. You get to learn a lot about him and his family and friends. You get to walk around his town and see how he lived and what he did on a daily basis. My favorite part was going through his house and touching the railing that he touched. I think everybody would love to tour his house. It's really fun.

I’ve been to the Lincoln Museum and Presidential Library many times. I’m so mad at myself for not getting to his crib. The staff are all National Parks staff and they are wonderful, informative and helpful. The visitors center has a ton of info and a short on Lincoln in Springfield. The home is meticulously restored. Walking the streets of Abe’s neighborhood will catapult you into the mid 1800’s.

What a lovely National Park. Not only is Abraham Lincoln's hone super interesting and authentic, but the street is lined with historic homes and interesting information. When touring the home, you go upstairs and use the original handrail that Lincoln used...one of the young girls (maybe 11yo) in the group said "I am never washing my hand again, I touched where Lincoln touched." It was very cool. Shannon was our tour guide, volunteer, and she was great!! Worth the trip!!

The Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Dana-Thomas House museum is a beautiful historic residence displaying many original furnishings by the famed architect. The property is located in downtown Lawrence, Kansas, and is well worth a visit for any fan of Wright's work.

My favorite Frank Lloyd Wright house to date. The exterior of the house could use some TLC…..grounds also. The interior showcases the work of a true genius. Tour guide was informative and cordial. I recommend it!👍🏼

My first Frank Lloyd home tour. Tour guide was very informative on the history of its owner along with her philanthropist activities. The interior architectural design was extraordinary and futuristic for its time of construction. The tour is free, donations are welcome, no reason not to take advantage of learning and seeing history first hand.

95+% original Frank Lloyd Wright house only blocks from the Illinois State capital building. The state-landmark house is a living museum of the socialite Mrs. Dana. She paid Wright a lot for the design a little over 100 years ago. The home is filled with original furniture design by Mr. Wright that takes you back to his original concept. Lots of art glass as well. You need to make reservations online because they only have a few guided tours a day - takes about an hour. Our tour guide was great!

It's hard to put into words the beauty of this rare architectural treasure. I've done the tour several times, and there are new things to discover in every visit. The details of the home are impressive throughout. The art glass is astounding. The tour guides do a great job balancing the history of Susan Lawrence Dana's life while pointing out the particulars of Frank Lloyd Wright's design.Regular tours can accommodate up to 15 people and are totally FREE! Parking is easily accessible and can be found directly across the street from the house.

I have loved Frank Lloyd Wright houses for a long time and though there is one in the next city over where I live, it doesn't compare to this place. It's 12000 sq ft of lavishness with its windows and furniture and little extras all created specifically for design as well as function. It was interesting learning the history behind the house and its previous owners as well as its use as a publishing company. No interior photos allowed so you definitely want to take the tour.

Words can't do justice to FLW's vision with this home. Photographs don't come close to actually experiencing the design, room transitions, and use of light. We can't emphasize enough that you take time out from Lincoln sightseeing to visit this gem. Make your reservation s online to ensure you can take the tour. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and he really brought things to life. Photos are not permitted inside the home. You will not regret this experience.

Beautiful and historic. I strongly recommend a visit, it is free and so is parking across the street. They do request you get your tickets in advance, just go through their website. The glass work is stunning. I hope to attend their candlelight sessions this holiday season.

An early example of Frank Lloyd Wright architectural design and an interesting story of the owner who commissioned the work. A guided 1 hour tour, you have to get tickets online but they are free.

My husband and I enjoyed our experience at this wonderful exhibit. We couldn't have asked for a better experience of a Frank Lloyd Wright designed an architectural master piece with the stained glass windows. This beauty is definitely worth a trip if you are already in Springfield. If not, visiting is definitely worth a visit. It's an amazing piece of history that isn't explained enough.

Beautifully kept home with amazing architecture. Our guide, Amber, did an excellent job of informing us of the history of this Frank Lloyd Wright design. It's definitely worth a visit.

It is truly an amazing, eclectic, extravagant Frank Lloyd Wright home. An example of the use of the latest technology combined with early 20th century opulence. Construction details and extensive use of hand crafted art glass is astounding. Wright seemed to have free reign in designing this complex yet practical marvel. Our guide did a great job taking us on a tour (about 1 hour). The original owner had a huge inheritance and used the home for both entertaining and some community goodwill.

We visited Springfield with a daughter and husband to see our grandsons living there, and meet new great granddaughter as well as new grand daughter in law. We decided to take in the Lincoln Museum and Dana Thomas house. Our guide at the house was amazing..and she had only been there since August! She knew so much and the way she explained was so interesting. I would go back for certain!!

FANTASTIC HOUSE!!!! 98% original Frank Lloyd Wright house only blocks from the Illinois State capital building. Sooooo much art glass and almost all original furniture. Only drawback is that you can't take photos in the house but totally understand that and would highly recommend anyone to go visit if you are in Springfield. You need to make reservations online because they only have a few guided tours a day but the website is easy to use.

Great experience. This was the highlight of our weekend trip to Springfield. The tour guide was very engaging and you could really tell his passion for the history of the house. You must visit if you are in the area.

We have visited many of FLW’s buildings and this is right up there with Falling Water and Taliesin West. The glass windows were beautiful and the house was full of surprises around every corner. This is definitely worth the visit.
