Windblade (RID) - Transformers Wiki (2024)

The name or term "Windblade" refers to more than one character or idea. For a list of other meanings, see Windblade (disambiguation).

Windblade is an Autobot from the Robots in Disguise portion of the Aligned continuity family.

Pretty Soldier Sailor Cybertron.

Tasked with a great mission by Primus himself, Windblade has been imbued with heightened senses which give her an almost clairvoyant instinct for finding Decepticons. Her enhanced fighting abilities and power to create powerful blasts of wind make her a formidable foe, though her overconfidence can sometimes lead her to bite off more than she can chew. She likes to give her teammates nicknames, something that's not always appreciated.

2015 Robots in Disguise cartoon

Camien prism power, make up!

Voice actor: Kristy Wu (English, S1-S2), Erica Lindbeck (English, S3), Hitomi Nabatame (Japanese), Jahel Morga (Latin-American Spanish), Cristiana Rossi (Italian), Susa Saukko (Finnish), Andrea Makay (Hungarian, episodes 31-61), Sophie Landresse (French, first voice), Pascaline Crevecoeur (French, second voice), Melanie Isakowitz (German, first voice), Annina Braunmiller (German, second voice), Kátia Campos (Brazilian Portuguese)

A thousand years ago, Windblade was given a mission by Primus himself, receiving upgrades and being placed in stasis. After awakening on Earth, she began the task of hunting down fugitive Decepticons, some of whom had been released as a result of the crash of the Alchemor. The Buzz on Windblade Among the Decepticons she captured were Crustacion Defrosted and Ragebyte. Blurred While capturing Scratch, she stumbled on Sideswipe and assumed he was another Decepticon. After a brief fight, that confusion was cleared up and Sideswipe introduced her to Bumblebee's team.

Windblade joined the team in heading to a nearby airfield where the Decepticon Zizza was holed up. Though Windblade intended to deal with the situation head on as usual, Strongarm prevented her from potentially endangering the humans Zizza had hypnotized. She instead helped Team Bee keep the humans safe and subsequently took part in a safer plan which Strongarm came up with, successfully capturing Zizza. The Buzz on Windblade

Windblade was again drawn to the scrapyard base of Bumblebee's team, to find Strongarm and Sideswipe had been captured. She went to reconnoiter the steel mill the Decepticons were using as a base, only to be captured herself and be bound to an immense statue which proved in integral part of bringing Megatronus to Earth. Battlegrounds, Part 1 She was able to break free from her bonds to try and prevent Megatronus from reaching the spark fuser which was a vital part of his plan. As the battle wore on, she and the other Autobots managed to drop the arm of the statue on their foe, resulting in his defeat. With the other Decepticons also captured, Windblade opted to remain on Earth with Bumblebee's team. Battlegrounds, Part 2

Their power is really extraordinary. One thing's for sure they are not from this world.

As Decepticons were being detected far from the scrapyard, Windblade was assigned to be part of an "away team" to hunt them. She and the rest of the team were sent on a mission to the Arctic under Optimus Prime's command, however as they tracked the Decepticon, they found themselves having to deal with Optimus's weakened state as a result of the Primes taking back the power they had bestowed on the Autobot leader. Overloaded, Part 1 After helping rescue Optimus from a cliff and saving the others from an avalanche, Windblade joined in scanning a new color scheme for camouflage purposes. During the capture of Polarclaw, she drove the Decepticon into the water in order to render his sonic roar ineffective and later led the Autobots to one of her caches so the Decepticon could be stored. Overloaded, Part 2

As they hunted Razorpaw in a desert, Windblade became overprotective of Optimus, almost resulting in her being swept over a waterfall after she overreacted to a woodchuck leaping out from the underbrush. Sideswipe managed to fish her out of the water, but she wound up getting injured in the process nonetheless. As the Autobots later faced Razorpaw, Windblade discovered the Decepticon was actually after her as the weakest in the team, but it turned out Optimus had been feigning his injury and took down the Decepticon and his Mini-Cons. Windblade apologized for babysitting her leader, though Prime thanked her for displaying such concern for a teammate. Cover Me

Investigating possible interference with one of her caches, Windblade and the team found themselves up against Stockade and his army of Mini-Cons. Optimus and Windblade were temporarily trapped in a bunker, but escaped with Sideswipe's help in time to take down the Decepticon. They subsequently GroundBridged back to the scrapyard with their new captives. Graduation Exercises

"Err, come in here! Help me explain our advanced ways...hurry!"

After a chance encounter resulted in Ratchet joining the team, the Autobots got a lead to the location of the remaining Decepticons on Earth; Toolbox, recent escapee from "Decepticon Island". The Autobots disguised Grimlock as a Decepticon, and used a ruse wherein the rest of the team posed as captives to infiltrate the crashed Alchemor, base to the Decepticons. Despite making good headway at first, Windblade and the others were discovered by the Decepticon higher ups after an argument between Bumblebee and Optimus caused the mission to stall out. The Autobots then found themselves completely surrounded by Steeljaw's troops. Decepticon Island (Part 1) As Bumblebee and Optimus began arguing over which course of action to take next, Windblade took the decision out of their hands by flying up and providing the rest of her team with the distraction necessary for them to slip away. Though this allowed the mission to proceed, Windblade was captured and put into a stasis pod by Overload. Ratchet and Drift came to her aid, and together they were able to take out the narcissistic Decepticon before escaping the ship. After Windblade's cryo-gas bomb froze everyone on the ship, Windblade opted to return to Cybertron on the repaired Alchemor along with Ratchet and Optimus. Decepticon Island (Part 2) When news of the Bee Team's exploits reached Cybertron, Windblade became one of the many Autobots blacklisted by the High Council for being a supporter of Optimus Prime. Enemy of My Enemy

After receiving the Bee Team's message about retriveing all her caches, she contacted them to check whether they had secured her cache on the Moon. After they informed her that they had not, she promptly transmitted the cache's coordinates to the Bee Team so they could retrieve the contents. Moon Breaker

Dancing is forbidden.

Windblade returned to Earth with Optimus, Ratchet, Jazz and Drift to enlist the help of the Bee Team in countering the plans of the corrupt Autobot Council. Optimus's group remained on Earth to protect it, as they were too well known on Cybertron, and soon found council forces raiding a warehouse. Investigating after the forces left, the group discovered the council was intending to build a space bridge receiver, however Windblade also found a bomb which exploded and destroyed the warehouse. Enemy of My Enemy Windblade and the others survived the explosion thanks to Ratchet's Triage Shield and engaged council forces who were setting up their receiver at the docks. During the battle, Windblade kept Optimus covered while he successfully destroyed the space bridge by throwing the receiver into the open portal. Following the Bee Team's successful defeat of the council, Optimus designated Windblade, Ratchet, Jazz and Bulkhead as a temporary council until elections could be held. Freedom Fighters

Vegeta! I Can Fly!

Following the defeat of Megatronus, Windblade joined Optimus Prime on a mission to the Sierra Ridge mountains. Robots in Disguise #5 The pair searched various caves until they stumbled on Predaking. The Predacon escaped, but left behind a piece of Starscream. Optimus and Windblade took the arm back with them and were able to use it to convince some Vehicons who'd teamed up with Steeljaw that Starscream was dead and the Decepticon army defeated. Prior to coming to Earth, Windblade was responsible for arresting Abominus.

Years later on Earth, Windblade and the rest of the away team managed to capture Shocksprocket before heading to Mount Everest to pursue Abominus. Unfortunately they fell victim to one of Abominus's boobytraps and become prisoners of the Decepticon until Slipstream freed them. They were then able to capture Abominus and Windblade defused the bombs he had intended to use on some nearby humans. Autobot World Tour

Toys

Robots in Disguise (2015)

Virtually every toy in this list has a scannable insignia sticker on it. For Hasbro releases, it temporarily unlocks that toy as a playable character in the Robots in Disguise mobile game, and can only be scanned once per day. TakaraTomy releases simply check that off on their mobile app's collection list. It's honestly quicker and less redundant to say which toys don't have this feature. Meanwhile, scanning the Combiner Force toys' insignia stickers gives the player Tickets, which can be spent by giving them to Cryostase via the main map menu.

How's she supposed to fly with that giant Autobot sticker over her fan?

  • Windblade (Legion Class, 2015 / 2016)
Part of the sixth wave of Hasbro's Robots in Disguise Legion Class figures, Windblade transforms from a robot into a VTOL (Vertical Take-Off & Landing) jet of made-up model in just three steps, and features 3mm-compatible posts on her hands and wings. Her scannable insignia is in her left wing turbine, accessible when in-package.
This figure has been released twice: First in late 2015/early 2016 in the original Robots in Disguise packaging design, and then again in late 2016 in the Mini-Con Weaponizers subline imprint packaging refresh.
Windblade's arms and overall engineering were later reused for Legion Class Starscream. This toy also doubles as Nijika's new form in Transformers: Legends.

  • Windblade (Warrior Class, 2016)
  • TakaraTomy ID Number: TAV55
  • TakaraTomy Release Date: September 24, 2016
  • Accessories: Sword, scabbard, tessen
Part of the seventh wave of Hasbro's Robots in Disguise Warrior Class toys, and the first of the Mini-Con Weaponizers sub-line, Windblade transforms from a robot into a VTOL jet and back. Like the Generations Windblade toy, her sword can be stored in a large scabbard which can hang from her hip by slotting the tabs on the scabbard's sides into the mold-release slots on Windblade's upper thighs. Also like the Generations toy, her helmet decoration can detach from the back of her head to become a hand-held "tessen" fan-weapon.

"Hey, can I get in on some of that churro action?" (TakaraTomy Version Pictured)

Her scabbard can be stowed in vehicle mode by plugging a 5 mm post into a slot in her undercarriage. The end is molded to look like the mouth of a blaster, giving her an undercarriage cannon. Like her Generation 1 counterpart, her wing-fans can be tilted and are designed to turn, but are too tight to spin freely. Some individual figures have an issue with one or both wings not staying folded down in vehicle mode.
The TakaraTomy version of the figure, released in the nineteenth wave of the Adventure toyline, has more paint applications, particularly the inclusion of more black detailing to better fit the character model. She also features a better matching red paint on her legs, compared to the more maroon shade used on the Hasbro version. Her sword is also colored to have a pink blade and black hilt, rather than simply being black the whole length.
This mold was also used to make Titan Force Windblade.

Much better.

  • Team Bumblebee vs Thunderhoof Set (Multi-pack, 2016)
  • ID Number: TAV48
  • Release date: May 31, 2016
In Japan, the Legion Class Windblade figure was only available as part of an Adventure EZ Collection multi-pack. Like most Adventure toys, she was given extensive paint applications to whatever paintable plastic was available to make her more show-accurate. Unlike the larger Adventure toys, she does not have her own individual on-toy scan-badge; instead there is a single scan-badge on a card for the entire box set she comes in.
This set also came with similarly-paint-slathered versions of Bumblebee, Fixit, and Thunderhoof.
Like the rest of the Adventure EZ Collection sets, some online retailers like Amazon Japan were still selling it two years later at greatly reduced prices, upwards of 70% off.

DARKNESS. NO PARENTS.

  • Windblade (Warrior Class, 2017)
  • Accessories: Sword, scabbard, tessen
Premiering in the tenth wave of Warrior Class toys, during the "Combiner Force" series, this version of Windblade is a redeco of her prior Warrior Class figure above with a generally darker scheme: she's cast in a deeper red plastic, and has more black plastic parts and black paint. Adding to the look is her new retooled headsculpt, featuring a black "battle-mask". Possibly due to its easy-to-miss redecoed parts however, the toy shelfwarmed hard compared to the original version.
Scanning the badge on her chest unlocks 8 Ultra Sparks and 2 tickets instead of the character.

Tiny Titans

  • Windblade (Tiny Titans, 2016)
    • Series: 5
    • Number: 12/12
Part of the fifth assortment of Tiny Titans blindpacks, this version of Windblade is a very small, soft-plastic figure in a kneeling pose.
She includes a collectible card that includes a scan-badge for the Robots in Disguise mobile game, which unlocks a random amount of Energon "currency" and a randomized bonus power-up item.
