Family Support: Children’s Home + Aid 910 2nd Avenue, Rockford, IL Contact: (815)-962-1043 www.childrenshomeandaid.org Services Provided: Adoption and Guardianship Preservation: Helps adoptive families resolve family/adoption issues, strengthen family functioning, and build an ongoing support base to reduce the risk of future dissolution. Early Prevention in the Community (EPIC): A mental health counseling program serving children who are referred for exhibiting behavior problems in the school and home settings. Services occur in the school, at our office, and in the community, helping children manage their feelings and learn new skills in order to control their behaviors. Pregnancy, Early Parent & Adoption Counseling: Provides counseling to the pregnant woman, father of the child, and the other family members of the woman who experiences an unplanned pregnancy. When the client chooses a plan, the agency provides parenting skills, training, or offers adoption placement. If parenting is chosen, she is assisted in accessing appropriate community resources. Fees: Fees only for counseling related to some private adoptions. Otherwise, there is no fee. WIC Farmer's Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) : A food assistance program for Women, Infants, and Children. Can provide special checks to buy fresh, nutritious fruits, vegetables, and herbs from farmers' markets and roadside stands.

Prairie State Legal Services offers free legal services for low-income persons and those over 60 who have serious civil legal problems and need legal help to solve them but no criminal cases. Throughout its history, Prairie State has focused on providing legal services to the most vulnerable groups in our society, including the poor, the elderly, and people with disabilities. Prairie State’s standard hours of operation are from 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. The Telephone Counseling Service (TCS) hours of operation are 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., Monday-Thursday.
