If there’s a line between giving someone tough love and being a b*tch to them, sisters cross it every time. (As someone with two sisters, I would know!) Kim Kardashian and Khloé Kardashian recently got into it about the latter’s parenting style, and the internet had some thoughts about the whole thing.
As a quick recap, the millionaire sisters are both parents. Kim to North, 10, Saint, 8, Chicago, 6, and Psalm, 5, who she shares with ex Kanye West; Khloé to True, 6, and Tatum, almost 2, who she shares with ex Tristan Thompson. And while Kim continues to make appearances and travel for work, Khloé has tended to stay home more since becoming a mom. In Thursdays episode of their Hulu series, the SKIMS founder accused her sister of having “agoraphobia,” per Buzzfeed, which is a fear of situations that may cause panic, because she stayed home instead of going to a Balenciaga fashion show.
In a confessional, the Good American founder admits, “There is no other place I would rather be than here with my kids.” In a teaser for next week’s episode, Kim gets a little aggressive. “You’re just fine in Hidden Hills; your kids rule your life. Live your f*cking life! Get out!” she said.
Over the years, we’ve seen the Kardashian sisters get into some pretty epic fights, so Kim and Khloé’s latest disagreement honestly seems kind of tame. However, people were attacking Kim and giving weirdly misogynistic takes on the whole thing, which I took as a way for Kim to gently encourage her sister to get out more and have a life that isn’t solely revolved around her kids (as everyone parent should!).
“It bothers me how Kim shames Khloe for wanting to stay home with her kids like a normal person. Kim puts work and appearances before her kids constantly,” one Redditor wrote, per Buzzfeed. Wait, what? “Wanting to stay home like a normal person”? In trying to defend Khloé from getting shamed, she is shaming all other moms who enjoy still working, traveling, and having a life outside of their kids. And that just doesn’t sit right with me. Just because Kim has other obligations doesn’t mean she doesn’t love her kids as much! I’m so tired of this old argument that says women have to always stay home to be good mothers.

Another person tweeted, per the outlet, “I just want to say Khloe how admirable it is that you spend most of your time with your kids. It’s the most important job we have as a mother. I get it, nothing else matters nor is more important than that. Kim should definitely take notes from you.” Spending time with your kids is great, but it’s not the most important thing we do. It’s also not what we have to do 24/7 either. Can you imagine a man getting this kind of hate for working?!
Kim was probably just trying to encourage her sister, who does so much for other people. In fact, in an earlier episode of The Kardashians, she admitted that she doesn’t have a live-in nanny or a nanny at night. “And I’m just so hands-on. It’s, like, cool half the time, but I make all of [True’s] lunches, I make her dinners, I do everything. I don’t let anyone else do it. Tristan has done it, but I’m so particular,” she said.
Khloé continued, “Every day after 8:30, when True’s asleep, I am crawling like I’m Leonardo DiCaprio out of ‘Wolf of Wall Street’ to my bed. Like, how do I get there? Then you wake up again and you do it all.”
But just because she does it all doesn’t mean she wants to. In fact, when asked who she would trade places with in another episode of the show, she answered her younger sister Kendall Jenner.
“I would have to say Kendall Jenner because why the f– not?” she said. “I could be a supermodel going around town. I could hook up with this person – not that Kendall does that – but I would be doing that, hooking up with every f— person, drunk as a skunk. No kids, no f— responsibilities … She has responsibilities, but you know what I mean.”
Maybe Kim is just trying to (not-so-gently) remind Koko that she can still drink, go around town, meet people, socialize, work, travel, or do anything else she wants to do even though she’s a mom. Having a life outside of your kids is a good thing, and it’s time to stop shaming moms, no matter what their lives look like.
